How does the insulated guidewear compare to the columbia quad system?I have been using columbia quad system for the last 10 years and figure it is time to go something new, have the regular guidewear for light weather but need something for late fall fishing.

I have both the bibs and the parka, it is very warm in extreme conditions, I have never had the Columbia quad system, I am sure it is great also. Generally, I wear a light sweater under the parka, and sweats under the bibs, and am still too warm most of the time. I am actually getting ready to buy the uninsulated version this Spring, the insulated gets very warm in a hurry when the weather starts turning nice. Great stuff though, I dont believe you an go wrong with the Guidewear!!

As I have repeatedly posted, I'm happy with my Columbia waterfowl gear, for waterfowling, under my orange cover jacket during the deer season, while ice fishiing or calling coyotes in winter, and as cold weather rain gear. For warmer weather, I'll remove the liner from the parka and substitute an uninsulated pair of Gore-Tex camo pants I bought from Cabela's for the insulated bibs. If you like Cabela's service and guarantee, they sell waterfowl gear that is very similar to Guidewear, except for color(camo is more versatile)and the presence of shell loops in the big pockets. Their mid-winter sale is on now. Check what is offered at a good price. Waterproof is waterproof. Gore-Tex may well still be the best, but the other trademarked systems, like Omnitech or whatever is in Cabela's store brand clothing are also waterproof and breatheable.

I've got both the insulated guideware for fishing and Columbia quad jacket for hunting. Both are awesome, but guideware works the best for fishing with the tight sleeves that go around wrists. The bibs are second to none, can't beat em!
