It wouldn't surprise me. Even the "mighty" Lowrance has been on the verge of bankrupcy for years. Their troubles got really bad just before their service department all but shut down. Call for service now, and you get a message offering a low price on a new unit. Fixing your old one isn't possible any more. An internet news service also listed Raytheon as a money loser last year.

Say it aint so Joe.....
Is it just a coincedence that www.vexilar.com comes up as "Site not Found"
Well, if it true I hope someone comes in and picks up the line. Good product they have. Need to go out and get one of those FL-18's before they are gone.

I would doubt that Vexilar has gone under. A year ago, the state of the business was solid financially. I would guess that the rumor was started because the guy in the bait store wanted to sell something else, and used the bankruptcy as a sales ploy.......just a guess on my part.
Vexilar is one of the best units on the market.

I didn't say it was a fact, just a thought. See how it became a "fact" as soon as I said it. Get the "point"? One mans words can start a rumor........

Sorry if I offended, not intended. I really don't think they are in trouble. I will keep my ears open for any info on the subject. It is an interesting situation.

Vexilar is very much alive and well!
It wouldn't amaze me to see them having there strongest years ever in 2001 or 2002.
The FL-18 is flying of the shelves as are other Vexilar products.
I think your baitshop guy was thinking of another brand.

I'm with Eddy, we sold the 18's so fast this year. We've almost run out of the fl-8's since we put them on clearance. I doubt Vexilar is hurting any worse than most companies right now. I'll try and call over there today to see if I can get any info....

Hey all, I gotta put a stop to this one.
I work for Vexilar and can assure you that we are in no financial trouble. The current economy and the mild winter have had an effect on us, but we're no where near going under.
and no, Arthur Anderson is not our accountant.
Look for more great stuff from us in the future.
Thanks,

Vexilar is an outstanding organization led by an outstanding individual Steve Baumann. When I formed my charitable organization Fishing for Memories, I asked Tony Dean who I could approach to help us out with equipment donations. One if not the first guy he mentions was Steve Baumann. I called Steve up and discussed the organization with him and he provided us with an edge2 unit. In the past I have always had Lowrance locators, but never again. The edge unit is far superior in almost all aspects. And I am not saying this just because it was a donated unit. Anybody that has one can speak for the units abilities. You ice fishermen know how well the flashers work. I also heard they are coming out with a new version of the edge. I would love to get my hands on one of those. But I'd have a tough time parting with the one I have.
And to you Vextech, I extend an open invitation to you and anyone in your company that wants a trip on Lake Sakakawea in the Van Hook arm just let me know. I will even provide the lodging.
Much Thanks for your support of our organization.
