It seems like we always ask "How can we build" interest in competitive walleye fishing. Maybe we don't really need to! Has anyone ever figured out just how many different walleye circuits there actually are, aside from the PWT, FLW, and MWC?
In Minnesota, just off the top of my head I can think of
MTT, MWT, WWA, GNWC, Lowrance Pro Team, and BWAC.
How many are there in your state/providence?

That's an interesting question. I do the bulk of my fishing in SD, and there are numerous tourney circuts that come there, FLW, PWT, GNWC, Lowrance...etc. But...on top of that, there is something like 350-400 tournaments held in a given season/per yearon the Missouri River system from Lake Francis Case to Lake Oahe/North Dakota Boarder. That means small to Large tournaments like, Gov Cups, Company Tourneys, Club tourneys, annual Casino tourneys, National Guard Branch Tourneys.....and on and on... I'm sure the Mississippi has a similar number in a given area. That's alot of tournament opportunities.

JLDII, We are trying to build a new circuit in the Great Lakes Region called the GREAT LAKES WALLEYE CLASSIC or GLWC. We're having a preliminary tournament for the 2006 season at Cranberry Creek Marina in Huron, OH. It is scheduled for Oct. 15 & 16. We are guaranteeing $10,000.00 for 1st. place. This is the last shoot-out planned before the 2006 season. Come on down and join us. Cheers, Bo www.greatlakeswalleyeclassic.com
Here's just a few in my area:
Nebraska Walleye Assn, Colorado Walleye Assn, Wyoming Walleye Circuit, Walleyes Unlimited, Pro Team Walleye Circuit, Key Hole Walleye Assn, Kansas Walleye Assn...
This is a good question, but now that I've thought about it, I think the origin of why it's always asked by pros is missed in this thread. Pros want to know how we build interest in pro tournaments, because we need more sponsors. There are plenty of Walleye Circuits out there already, but they alone are not helping put food on the table.
I have a slightly different twist on the original question...How can we grow the fan base of the sport beyond other fisherman, so that we can start attracting sponsors with real money?

Hi Jack, nice job on Milly. Just to clarify BWAC stands for Big Winnie Angling Coalition. We are a conservation group here on Winnie.
Thanks for noticing the decal.

Hi Pat,
Congrats to you and Virgil too.
I thought you guys (BWAC) had a tournament series of your own on Winnie, also????

There was a series of tournaments on Winnie for one or two years called the Winnie Walleye Trail, but I don't think they continued beyond that. BWAC ran an ice fishing tournament a couple years ago, isn't that right Pat? or am I wrong and one is put on every year?
We didn't make it up there for ice fishing last winter - so maybe we missed it.
Anyway you look at it there are LOTS of walleye tournament out there -- and that's great for those of us who like to fish them.
Hope to see you all on the open water next year and possible on the ice this winter.
