I was talking to someone in Lander the other day and they said they have had more snow this year than in many years. Does this runoff into Wind river drainage or into the North Platte drainage? Is there better snow pack in Wyoming this year?

Not in the Big Horns. I can't say speak for further West. Check some Jackson Hole websites for better info.

It depends where in the mountains you are. Most of the drainages in the Lander area run into the Wind River though. If you get up on South Pass in will run into the Sweetwater and then the North Platte. Across the divide it will run into the Green. I haven't heard much good news about the Wind River Drainage. The Jackson side has been doing well from what I have heard earlier though. Lander may well have a good snowpack. I don't know. The people in Lander used to measure their snow depth with a busted yardstick.:)

I drove over South Pass last weekend and it was worse than last year. We might be worse off than last year. By the way Boysen was SLOW!

The Bighorn River drainage is not looking good for snowpack so far this winter. We're hoping for some big snows this spring. If not, it might be a tough year for launching boats. -- mark
