I have the chance to either buy a few reefruners or the old deep thundersticks but can't buy both. Which would you choose and why??

If your fishing on Erie I would go with the RR!!!!!

I'd grab those old-style Thundersticks while you have the chance. The new Storm line looks like junk. Get some Reefrunners whenever you can, they'll be available.

I witnessed some great results with the suspending, shallow diving Yozuri's this fall (and had some of the good results myself until I lost the only 2 I had). So, I'm going to try the new deep divers next summer. They have diving bills that are actually bigger than a RR but I don't think they are supposed to get as deep. We'll see, I guess. Pending that experiment, the RR's seem to be the best deep diver.

I agree with JBL - I'd get the thundersticks while you can. That said, I am a huge fan of the Reef Runners!

My vote goes with Reef Runners. For consistency and ability to tune easily, I love 'em!

I threw about every deep diving crank at the walleyes this summer on a continuous basis. Reef Runners out performed the rest easily 10-1. I am totally amazed at how they seem to get fish when the others won't pick a single fish up. My second best producer in water up to about 18' deep were the new cordell walleye minnow's. They sort of mimmick the Reef Runners action and I imagine that lead to their success. You'll hear alot of people that love the thundersticks, but for some odd reason in 4 years of pulling them I have landed only one fish in Lake Sakakawea with them. So I sold all of them on ebay to a great guy that frequents walleye central. He know's who I'm talking about. I think My Shad Raps will be next to go. LOL

Marc, I also have had good luck on the 24A s, especially the blue/clear model. I would put it in my top 5 cranks, along with Reefrunners, old style Deep Jrs and Shad Raps. Also have had great luck on the shallow running Suspending Rogues and Husky Jerks.

It's really strange with the colors. It varies from year to year. Last year almost everything came on firetiger or chartreus colors. This year for awhile it was strictly brownish colors and then in October went to strictly purple colors. Purple Demons and the trash pink color. When I start a day I always tie on at least one firetiger, then a dark colored bait, a blue/chrome color and one of the exotic colors the more colorful ones and see what happens. My experience has been when they zero in on a color that day that seems to be the only one they hit on. I will then load the lines up with that color but always keep another color on just in case.
