Are any of the Lorwance products W.A.A.S. able yet? Most important the X-15?

Moose.. Did they mention about OLD GPS's and how they would address them? If I buy a x-15 now do I have to send it back or will there be a patch on-line that I can down load?

What Lowrance said is that there would be an update/patch.
Then we would have to send in our old receiver to get the WAAS receiver.
The guy I talked to didn't seem 100% sure of himself.
We'll have to wait and see.
I would wait if I was you.

Moose thanks........

The "Sales Man" said not to get wraped up in the W.A.A.S. issues. (Another "Sales Pitch"?) He said the New models would be in stores by April. I have a way right now of getting one for cost with the GPS and I don't want to ruin the deal by making my source wait. What would you do?

I don't want to interupt your discussion but I stumbled across this link to the government site for WAAS. I never knew this thing was initialy designed for aircraft until I read their info. For anyone who's interested:

I have been following the development of the i Lowrance for over a year. It was supposed to be out last year. They pulled it back and the factory said it was due to the casing. I talked to the reps at a fish show last week and they said it was more than that. Now it will not be out until next month? The 2002 i Lowrance will have WAAS. I will bet that many of their other units will also. The 2001 was not set up with WAAS.
I am now comparing to the Garmin products that are out and have WAAS. In particular, the Garmin V. My only problem is the Garmin V has 19mg of memory and I do not think that it can be increased. The i Lowrance can be expanded to 128mg of memory. WOW. Two years ago we would be happy with 1mg.
I am not an expert but a long time shopper. Any input on either product will be appreciated. This is not a cheap investment.

The correct name is i Finder. You will not believe it but during the last post, my wife left something on the stove and went to get a carry out. I was down in the basement typing my response and did not have time to check it. Fire alarms went off! I went upstairs and there was black smoke everywhere. I crawled through the smoke and put the fire out. The alarms saved us but the smoke damage is something else.

For my money the Garmin for GPS is definetly the way to go.They are always on the leading edge of GPS whereas Lowrance, it seems is continually play catch up.The Garmin emap has had 128 meg capacity and is almost 2 years old.The new ifinder is at least one year behind and like other Lowrance GPS units it still does not name their highways or waterways.(maybe available on other software but does not come base loaded that way.Look at the new sonar units by Lowrance, the 160 the 240 units come with dust covers, built in temp sounds VERY similar to Garmin.I have owned Lowrance products since 1986 and was very pleased with them, but I don't feel they are the leaders in the industry, but unforturnately have become the followers.just my 2 cents.
