I heard that the FLW Detroit tournament will be limited to the waters of the Detroit River and participants will not be able to go into Lake Erie. Could you please let me know if this is correct and, if so, why the change from previous years. I'm not complaining. Just want to get the facts. I, for one, like the idea of limiting it to the river. The old back can't take those long rides in rough conditions anymore. LOL. Thanks.

Yes, it's a river only tournament. I just spoke with Sonny on the phone to confirm that. The Canadian side of the river will be open to fishing too.
It doesn't state it in the brochure, but Sonny said it will state in the confirmations along with information for obtaining Canadian licenses before the tournament.
There really is no reason why, other than they decided to keep it a "river only" event. That's ok with me too by the way. ;)
If anyone has any questions concerning this, please call Sonny at his office at 270-252-1591.

Juls, Can I get a Canadian license on the net? If not, where is the best place to get one - hopefully without driving into Canada.
Thanks
Jerry Cassell
Edit: just found i can get license by mail but would rather not do it that way.
From MNR website:
(Non-resident fishing licences are also available through the mail by calling the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources at 1-800-667-1940.)

Bottomline Bait and Tackle has Canadian license. You fill out the paper work and they go over about 2 times a week and get the licenses. Several years ago at a FLW League tournament they took the applications after the rules meeting and had our licenses ready for us at 6:00 am the next morning.

Call the MNR by phone. They will send you one in a couple weeks. They to allow six, but it has always been a couple for me the past few years.
If you charge by phone, you get the best exchange rate, at least by credit card does that.
