Chris are you out there somewhere? I have not seen your name in print that I recall. Are you still fishing the pro circuit? Drop me a reply if you should happen to see this. I have wiped clean the sword and hung it back on the wall.:)
A much more pious,

Eyejacker,
Chris is now the External Relations Director at Cabelas. He's busy, busy, busy.... getting things ready for the Cabelas Championship and MWC at Mille Lacs at the moment.

Hey Jack!

I've traveling and haven't been on here in awhile. I got about a dozen e-mails with your post however. ( : I hope all is well with you.

I haven't decided yet if I am going to be able to fish this year. I have a tremendous sponsorship opportunity, but I also have quite abit of responsibility at Cabela's I need to attend to. I miss tournament fishing though. Ever since Green Bay, I have had the "itch" bad.

Howabout you? Anything new?

Hey Chris, its great to hear from you. I must admit,I did not think this approach would yield results. I have thought about you on any number of ocassions. I hope all the waters have calmed and relationships restored! I have just recently started visiting WC with any frequeny again, before, only periodically since that scrimmage last spring. I hope life has been good for you and yours. I finally caught my long pursued 8 pound eye while trolling with leadcore. Probably could have turned it earlier fishing Lake Erie or some other premiere pond. I had a fantastic season on a pristine northern lake. Life has been superb here! Maybe one day our paths will cross. It would be nice to shake your hand and say hi.

That is great news about your BIG eye! An 8 pound fish is big anywhere! Leadcore is deadly. I had a great day with it in late summer on Devils Lake. Leadcore and Little Rippers and been very, very good to me.

I believe I actually made more friends through the fire last spring than not. I really respect people who aren't afraid to speak there mind and then have the confidence to stand firm on their belief. I think alot of good came out of it all. If nothing else, it made alot of people think much deeper about the sport.

I watched the FLW today and was amazed at where our sport is headed. In the top 10 at Okeechobee you had two rookies finishes 1 - 2, from MD and VT in FL!. The fifth place finisher was 21 years old! The fan response and money is unbelievable! My three year old was glued to the set. His hero isn't Michael Jordan or Kurt Werner, but rather Tom Keenan!!! Our sport is catching momentum. Through that we will encounter hiccups. However, we are all brought together by a very strong common bond.

I hope our paths do cross. I would love to meet you and maybe fish some together. I will be at many tournaments this spring and summer. Hopefully competing!!

Good Luck in 2002 on that......10 pounder!!!!!!!

Chris,
Good to hear that the firefight did not inflict much, if any, permanent damage. I worried after the smoke cleared that my "gunslinging" might have reflected poorly on you. When I did not see your name in any of the published tournament standings I became concerned that you may have got caught in a rip tide of negative reaction. I certainly did get into that issue! I would consider it an honor to fish out of the same boat one day. I am sure I would be exposed to more knowhow than I could possibly absorb. I am confident you will find your way back to the "circuit" as I believe that is where you belong. One suggestion when you do get there...let me measure your fish. :) :)

I can guarantee this EyeJacker...If you fish with Chris, you will be laughing your butt off all day! He puts me in stitches, to the point my gut, and cheeks will hurt from laughing..:7

I can also guarantee that you will have a real relaxed, (but intense at the same time), time in the boat. He's one of my favorites to fish with. I learned a lot from him in the past year, and hope to keep learning from him in the future!

Chris,

Glad to hear you are working for Cabela's, it is a rare occasion when my Cabela's visa isnt maxxed out. Can't get enough of their merchandise and am lucky to be close enough to two of their stores so that I can venture into the bargain caves with some frequency.

Anyways, I used to follow Tony Dean's website on a regular basis and one day last spring someone asked Tony what his opinion was on the Chris Bahl controversy and provided a link to Walleye Central. Well I had never heard of Walleye Central and naturally my curiosity was piqued, so I had to see what the controversy was and what was happening. I was amazed at what a great site this is and I have learned more from the people here than anywhere. So I just wanted to say thanks Chris, cuz without your controversy who knows when I would have found Walleye Central and met all these great anglers. I would be honored if I ever had the opportunity to spend a day on the water with you.

Take care and good fishing,

Bob M

Jack

Thanks for the kind words. I hope we can fish together some day.

Juls, if you are not having fun fishing, then something is wrong. I always have fun on the water. Intense, yes. But, having fun. I can't wait to fish with you again.

Bob, thanks. I took alot of heat last spring. But, alot of good has come from it. I lost many nights sleep not winning my first PWT. Oh well. I think we advanced the sport together. My season ended ok, and I am at peace. I'd love to fish with you someday. You are welcome in my boat. My theme for 2002...."Unfinished Business."

By the way, what was Tony Dean's opinion on the whole ordeal?

Till we meet.

Chris,

I don't recall if Tony posted an answer, he doesn't reply to all the messages on his board. If you are going to fish any tournaments in the MN, ND, SD area drop me an email. Maybe we could spend a day prefishing. My email is RRobertJMartin@cs.com. Thanks again.

Take care and good fishing,
