Pete,
Things started out a little rocky for you, but you made a great comeback. Many times, I have more respect for comebacks than I do for wire-to-wire leaders. You obviously made some great adjustments.
See ya in Red Wing,
Rick

Hey, Pete!
GREAT JOB @ Winneconne!!! It's tough to keep the "chin-to-the-wind" after a "goose" on Day 1, but you kept the pressure on the fish and worked your magic under very challenging conditions! This is a MUCH BETTER start than last year, Pete! I am very happy for you, and wish you every success for the rest of the season! All the best and Congratulations, "Mr. Tiller!"

Thanks guys for the kind words. As to making adjustments, I simply stayed on target based on my limited prefishing success. Here is what did happen. A slight mechanical gremlin on day ones take off altered my day one plan from my original plan of action. After limping to my first spot in the Wolf river, I made a decision to leave the Wolf and return to Winnieconnie early and finish the first days fishing there thinking I could scratch out a small limit. That proved to be a poor decision on my part. Many short fish, but no legal length walleyes were caught and we zeroed the first day. With Mechanical problems fixed, on day two and three, my fish came from the first three spots I had selected in the Wolf river prior to the tournament. The bite was very tough, the fish were small and much credit needs to be given to the help of three hard working excellent Co-Am. partners, Mike Grant, Matt Miller and Matt Mertens. Cashing a check and winning the Coleman Cool Under Pressure award would not have been possible without their strong efforts. MANY THANKS again to Mike Grant, Matt Miller and Matt(Big Fish)Mertens for sticking with me and giving it your best shot under difficult conditions.

Hey Pete,
Congrats! There was no doubt in my mind that you would come back after day one. If anyone can work out a tough bite, it's you!
BTW: What do you get for the "Cool Under Pressure" award this year? Do you still get a 1000.00 and a plaque, like they have done in the past? Or, is it something more this year?
Just curious...;)

Juls,
I wish I could tell you that the Coleman Cool Under Pressure Award was $1000.00 like in previous years or the award had been increased in dollar amount. On stage I was quite stunned to learn that the award had been reduced to the plaque and a Coleman stainless steel cooler. Sadly this award is a major reduction in value from previous years. Frankly, a cooler won't buy you much $3.00 a gallon gas.

Congrats Pete on a great comeback. Sorry to hear about the boat problems.
I hear next year it will be a Stanely Steel Thermos instead...

I hear you Pete. Here's another little anoying thing about winning that award. You will get a 1099 for $100 from the PWT for that cooler. In the end, that cooler will cost you $30 in taxes.
