Yes, they are 8 fish limits.
We ended up 12th with 33.5 lbs. The first day we caught 8 walleye by 10 AM, we threw 3 of them back thinking we could catch 3 more in 5 hours. Needless to say we didnt catch anymore and had motor problems causing us to go in early. It was around 120 degrees with no wind.
The second day we caught alot of walleye with a few breaking our lines. We had 8 walleye at around 1 PM with a weight of 20.26 lbs coming in with the second biggest bag of the day.
We learned alot from the tourney, as we should not have threw them three fish away and we would of ended up in 4th, but who would thought we would have engine problems and not catch anymore fish.
We had a blast and was a great ran tourney, except for the heat.

Yes, it was hot, with a new national record, Saturday, of 117. There were spots on the reservoir that were brutal, with the hot air blowing off the ridges. Nobody got sick, or had had health problems related to heat, that I know of. Many fronts moved through also both days. The S.D. Gov's Cup is always a fun tournament. A real mix of some of the top pros and weekend fishermen. It is always a well run and organized event, and I believe the oldest Walleye tournament still running. I have fished it for the last 10 years with my partner Curt Reese. Fish were caught mostly north of Spring Creek Marina using several methods. Some were crankbaiting deep, some live baiting points or deep humps, and others were using spinners. The fish are very healthy, so there must be and abundance of food available. It was not uncommon to have a fish weigh nearly 4 lbs and be 22 inches long. I had a great time as usual.

Kudos to those who went out in that HEAT! Wish I could have fished it. I do think there was more interest in that tournament when it was much cheeper to get into. It used to have over 100 boats and paid back your entry to something like 25 spots. At least you felt like you could at least get your money back. Can I ask you....what did 12th place pay?

!2th place got 2% and was supposed to get $1,024, based on a field of 160 boats. I think there were 100 boats. I dont remember the amount, but based on what we got for 6th, it was about 1/2 of what it would have been, if they had a full field. The heat did have an affect on late entries.

I guess that isn't too bad. I thought I heard around 70 boats, but 100 boats isn't too bad a field. Did they pay 20 or 25 spots?

They paid 20 spots, plus the Viagra, father/son, couples, big stringer both days, and big fish both days. Also 100 quart Coleman coolers to 2nd place couples and father son division, and a number of other neat prizes. This is a great tournament.
