I am thinking about buying and applying a Herculine bed-liner from Cabela's. Have any of you guys ever attempted this? And how did it turn out? You can save about 250.00 bucks by doing it yourself, but I am also afraid about messing up my truck.

I did my own truckbed with Herculiner, looks good and cleans up easy after a day of hauling, hunting, fishing, or whatever. I got mine a t a Menards a discount hardware store much cheaper than Cabelas. Just follow instructions that come with it an it is a snap. By the way when they say wear gloves.... WEAR GLOVES, I did not since i Knew I would be careful make a minimal mess and get cleane dup easily. Well i was careful and I did make a minimal mess but had dried herculiner in my nails for days once it is dry it is dry.
Good Luck
We used it on areas of a duck boat. Make sure you DEFINITELY do it in the temperature range they say. It was too cold the first time we tried and it did not work well at all.

Neil,
If I remember right you have a new Chevy? Be careful where the tailgate meets the bed when doing this. I had a Rhino Liner dealer do this and he told me you have to leave a slight gap so the tailgate will shut. Better to know this before you start then after its too late.
Good Luck

Neil,
I used a similar product made by Dupli-color, the people who make the touch up paints for vehicles. Works real well, but is nowhere near the thickness of the Rhino, LineX, applied liners. I use a plastic bed liner, the brush on liner is there to prevent chafing of the paint on the bed and rusting.
