Tony - I agree, specially with the HOT bite of late. Those NE winds must have stirred thing up pretty good. Sounds like better conditions today - good luck to all. Bob

The conditions on the bay were absolutely brutal this past few days.

Two and a half days of a Northeast wind with 5-7 foot waves turned the Inner Bay into chocolate Milk. Pre fishing Thurs. and Friday was to say the least-challenging if you attempted it at all.

Clear water was to be found in the outer Bay but the fish up there either stuck their heads in the mud or moved.

The Bay is stuffed full of fish, but man did they have lock Jaw. I went back out on Sunday while the Wife was fishing as a Co. and caught a few in just a few hours. So it appears things are gonna break back open in a day or so.

Top Weights were 6-15 on Sat. and 8- something on Sunday.

Congrats to Mr. Stauss. Well earned!

Was water clarity the root cause of the weak weights?

Who would have nver thought 6lbs 14oz would be the biggest day one basket out of 51 boats on a Saginaw Bay event?

I don't think so. I am sure it had an effect on the inner bay bite but even in the clearer water to the north it was slooooooooow. I ran fast with plastic, slow with big bright blades, and smaller #2 and 3 blades. I drug bottom bouncers and 2 and 3 ounce inlines in front of them. The only bite that was going was the 7-17 inch fish. As many as there are, there is gonna be a certain amount that will hit something.

My personal opinion is that Low Pressure that was slow moving caused more of the problem than anything. But 5-7 foot waves probably drove the fish into the mud. Stuck their fins in and weren't moving.

But I really don't know. I am not known for having much success over there unless we get a few days of high pressure. :) Unfortunately every year just a day before the tournament we get some real dandy storm to blow in.

It seperates the men from the boys... Oh look it time for recess. :)
