What kind of knot should be used to attatch a rope to an anchor (chain actually)
My anchor has a length of chain to keep the anchor on the bottom. When the boat bounces in the waves, it lifts the chain, not the anchor (supposedly)
Now I need to attatch my rope to this chain and I don't know which knot to use.

I use a 5 turn hangmans knot on all applications that are going to be permanent. This knot slips tightly onto whatever you tie it to, and stands no chance of coming loose. One of the very few knots that gets tighter when there is pressure on it and when it gets wet.

SHACKLE it to your anchor rode's thimble. if you don't have a thimble, splice one in.
P.S. Search for REW's (?) answer to this question in the last month or so.

a thimble and shackle is definetly way to go. However, splicing it in can be difficult especially for us that are all "thumbs"!. If you cant splice it in or find someone to do it, use an "anchor bend". basically two turns around the eye of the chain and two half hitches with the first half hitch passing UNDER the two turns. Check frequently for chafe and wear.

And then - if you want to make sure - whip it...
I used some braided 20 lb Kevlar line and whipped and sewn the two end together to make sure the know woi=uld stay -
It's never pass any Yacht Club or Navy regs. - but I won't lose it from a loose not.
