Anybody else listen to the Gary Gray interview? Sounds like he really misses the game. That human depth finder story was great though... I gotta get one of those!

Best of luck to you Gary!

he sure does sound like he miss's it. But, he also, has some words of wisdom for the anglers.

I know, that he sure likes to do things for Kids. He is involved in the Otter Street Kids tournament each yr. He raises money, and shows up for it, even when he had a busy time.

Heck, when he won that money a few yrs back, he bought 1500 rods and reels for kids, or something like that.

He has a love for the sport, and the sport was good to him.

I wish him well, and hope to see him again at the kids event, even last yr, he was there, with his oxygen bottle and all, to say hi, to the kids, Over 600 kids, and 6 yrs ago, there3 was only about 59.

Great Job, Gary, you are a credit to the Sport,

Dean

Gary is planning on doing the Otter Street Kids Tournament again this year. We'll be doing an interview before that event too.

I'm hoping to do a series of interwiews with Gary in the near future focusing on specific techniques that he's mastered through the years. Anybody have suggestions of questions or topics you'd like to hear Gary discuss?

If you listened to the interview, and thought it was OK, please let Tom know, and also, PLEASE give him some ideas, on what you would like him to discuss. It was fun for me, and I hope I can be of some help to some fishermen.

Thank You,
Gary Gray

Alot of what I liked is the frank and openiness about competitive angling. You have the resume behind you and the proven past that can speak with authority. I spoke with a large marine dealer yesterday that is soured by the "ego" attitude of "some" competitive anglers.
We need to remember just who the consumer is, and most that buy boats are not tournament anglers. This amrine dealer prefers to not have competitive anglers in his booth. Anyway, one point that might improve Tom's show is perhaps less focus on competitive fishing, instead talk to the personal side. Might have broader appeal. I really liked you comment about competition and how it creates friction between friends. I see it time and time again and hear all this back biting. I have sorted it out that it alot about our jealous nature.

Thank you for the response. I feel the only way to talk about something, is straight up, and to the point. I can understand, the frustration of the Dealer, and why, he does not want them in his booth. I will try to stay focused on common sense fishing, and sytright forwardness, when doing the interviews.

Thanks again,

Gary Gray

Tom...

As far as fishing, leadcore trolling

Aside from fishing...

I spent some time in the boat prefishing with Gary and thoroughly enjoyed conversations on fishing/tournament ethics. I would also like to hear the stories of how he became involved in torneys/fishing.

Come fish with me!
