This lake is about 10 miles east of Backus, 350 acres. Looking for the usual lake info: fishing (bass, northern, walleye) and water quality. How is the lake for swimming? Does anyone know if there is any wild rice in the lake? I have checked out the DNR site.

Thanks,

Joel B.

Although it's known as a pretty good crappie lake, you don't hear much about it, but there are so many good lakes in the area it's no surprise. There are bass, walleyes and pike in it too. Water clarity is fair, and it's mostly sand bottom. I don't think there's a resort on the lake and not that many homes. The boat ramp I would say is unimproved.

You might try calling Godfrey's hardware in Backus and ask for the guy in sporting goods, I forget his name. He's usually pretty good with info on area lakes.

Joel,

Sorry, no info on Hay Lake.

Where are you not looking? I think you should publish all the information you are compiling and sell it for others that are looking for a lake place. I'd probably buy it.

What are your requirements? Acreage? Frontage space? level ground? southern exposure? etc?

Good Luck!
