Would it be so hard to tell people prior to signing up on saturday what your intentions are if there is a blow day? Instead of just saying I'll tell ya' tomorrow, couldn't you have told people what would happen in case of a blow day? hard to read your mind.

For that matter, if you pick these sites because of the potentail of blow days why don't you post your back up plans on your web sight?

This doesn't seem to hard. Tell us before so we can plan accordingly. Why keep us hanging?

On another note. Saw 2 tournament boats for sure using 6 lines. As small as that river is, why didn't you observe from shore or boat. Sure seems easy to do. And before you say I should have turned them in, that's your job not mine and how am I supposed to know their names or boat numbers. All I know is they had a ribbon on there boat and had 6 lines out. I KNOW others had to have seen them with all those boats in the same place.

Not too hard to figure out that if there is a blow day the contestants would be restricted to the river.
You could still plan accordingly, if you knew there was a chance bad weather was coming in. A weather radio or weather channel would have given you that info.

I'm not familiar with the regs there...I take it from your complaint that you are not allowed three lines per person in the river?
Either way, It's the responsibility of the anglers to police themselves in ANY tournament circuit. The tournament director cannot be in all places at all times. It should have been YOU that protested the use of 6 lines, if you were the one that saw them.

If you expected Jim to see the boat registration numbers from shore, then you too could have written them down from your vantage point in a boat. At the very least, a decsription of the boat/motor and anglers would have gotten you the right info back at the weigh in.

Fisherman police their own.

Don't register until the night before so you can see what the weather is going to be like. Juls was right, if there is a small craft advisory, they are going to restrict the fishing to the rivers. Marine band told us of the impending weather already on Friday and Saturday.

On another note: MWS suggestion: Place the tournament site in the locations of the seasonal movements of the fish. South (Green bay or Oconto) in the spring, north (Sturgeon Bay or Narinette )during the summer. Makes making long trips less necessary,
much safer and less costly.

Fisrt of all it is hard to make the call the day before as the weather may change from what is forecast. I did say at least twice during the rules meeting and in discussions with teams that inquired prior to the rules meeting that we may restrict teams to the river.

It is not an easy call but the ANGLERS SAFETY is very important. I did not make the decission without a lot of thought.

As to the concern about Spring Green Bay last weeks Green Bay tournament was held to the river due to a blow day. As far as traveling from Menominee for big fish several teams were on big fish within a couple miles of Menominee.

Also we were asked to change our schedule from what had done in the past. Again the past couple years the fishing has been great in the Menominee area with very little travel.

Also we did patrol the river and had a discussion with a team that was running three lines and took action. We also talked to two teams that were out of the river making thier turn to come back into the river. These boats were just beyond the end of the breakwall. We can not be everywhere and need help from the anglers if there are problems or concerns. If we are not aware of problems we cannot address the problem

Thanks

Not sure what all the gripe is about. If your not sure what your getting into; ASK! Your not the only fisher person that had a bite going outside the river!! It is very common (and common knowledge) to get held in the river on blow days.
No reason to give Jim any heat on this, he did a great job and it was the safe and right decision.
As far as violations, it's all of the anglers out there to police one another.
If it makes you feel any better, Jim was out on the breakwall at least once because I talked to him about if he was going to let us go out into the bay.

Could you fill us in on what the winning teams did to catch thier fish?

MWS concern has a valid point, why wouldn't a tournament establish SCA boundaries not only prior to the day of a tournament, but even several weeks before hand? Few people are mind readers and fewer yet are good at it...for example are the foul weather boundaries going to be the river only or perhaps the Pestigo lighthouse to the Cedar River...it's anyone’s guess, but it sure does help if you know where to prefish.

I was a bit concerned regarding Jim's response to the anglers that were A) outside of the allowable fishing boundaries and B) that were running more than 4 lines. They had "discussions" with those teams and took "action" what does that mean; were they DQ'ed for not following the rules? Or simply told not to do it?

If this is true we have a major problem with this circuit. They DQ'd a boat at LBDN for having a shower curtain hanger in fish for marking BUT do nothing here? Where is the concistancy? These guys had a MAJOR advantage unlike the shower curtains. Something is wrong. Jim we need a responce. You said that you dealt with the people with too many lines, how so? They won the tournament.

Jim's response

It is now Wednesday and this is the first I have heard of Keller's running three lines each. How could I react if I did not know it happened? When I was on the breakwall they were running TWO LINES EACH.

LBDN there was a clear statement was make TAKE EVERYTHING OFF THE FISH PRIOR TO COMING TO THE TANKS! Violations would result in the team being DQ'd

As to the action taken on teams that we knew violated NO POINTS including show points.

Bottom line I do not take DQing anyone lightly but if I need to take action I have and will.

If anyone wants more clarification on actions taked either e-mail info@fishtfm.com or call 920-731-3474

Thanks
