I am considering purchasing the Lowrance LCX-15MT GPS/Sonar combo. Has anyone tried it and how does it perform. Are there any other units of the same nature that I should consider before I buy.

Bryan,
I bought one last spring and I am extremely pleased with the unit. The detail is very good, and the GPS functionality is excellent. I found it to be easy to use as a basic sonar. But I have not explored all the various features, yet.

One feature I found to be a nice upgrade from my last unit was the split screen, you can have depth on one side, and several other neat options on the other side. The large size screen on the LCX-15 makes this option very functional.

There are many nice sonars out there, I think this is one of them.

There is going to be a learning curve involved with any unit of this complexity, but don't let it scare you away. I find it part of the challenge of fishing. You are not required to use all the features at once.

Good luck with your choice.
