Divisional teams have done very well at Minnewaska placing no fewer than 3, and as many as 5 teams in the top 10 overall each year. Multiple winners can occur. For example, the Husband/Wife division winner in 2006 also placed 5th overall, and took a big fish check home as well to take home nearly $1,500.
Free hog roast for all team members following Day 1 weigh-ins. About the lake: Lake Minnewaska is undoubtedly one of Minnesota's premiere multi-specie lakes and currently harbors one of the highest walleye counts in the last 20 years. There's a good number of 18 to 23-inch walleyes and a great supporting class of fish that ranger both smaller and bigger. 18 to 21-inch smallies are common catches during prefishing and the tournament which makes it a lot of fun while you'll find sunnies and northerns in the mix as well. *Since 1999, the Minnewaska Lake Association has privately stocked over 600,000 (6 to 12-inch) walleye fingerlings. High numbers of young of year fish were also noted in 1999, 2001 and 2005 as the result of DNR fry stocking or through natural reproduction. In addition, the DNR as stocked over 7 million walleye fry in 7 of the last 10 years.
