AOY isn't decided until the final Super Pro is completed. There is no regional AOY. Gary has a comanding lead going into this final tournament in 3 weeks.

following the pwt for years , im having trouble with something ... i know you have 2 regons and a super pro side. but i see the top 50 anglers in the aoy race.. with the understanding that there is a chapionship that again they are trying to qualify for... it seems to me that the guys who fish all the regionals will make the championship.. is it just me , just this year? what gives.. all the names in the standings are great fisherman and capable of winning a championship but it seems that there are more openings than anglers? i know its hard to qualify just out of one region as they only drow so many.. am i missing something. just thinking that its come down to who has the time and money to fish them all will go reguardless of how they do in the individual events.. it was always a big deal to get the issue of walleye insider and see the full field of champoinship qualifiers in a photo.. and again as many that missed the cut for the year .. how many weeks off of work do you need to fish this circuit? i have been fishing tournaments for 10 years dreaming of someday getting into this game and it seems to be getting farther out of reach .. am i fishing against the best of the best or a hand full of the best and a hand full of the ones who can afford it and another hand full of local heavy hitters on each body of water? are there new idias for 08 ? thinking out with my mouth agian. stiring the pot Maybe ? i fear change my nature just wonder if im the only one that thinks this way. i speak from a ten year spectator and dreamer . im not a pro . i love the pwt and flw and the walleye game is somethin i cant get enough of ,,, so dont get me wrong , im thinking im missing the big picture here and im looking for some help?

If my numbers are right, 33 out of the Top 49, prior to this past event, in the PWT Johnsonville AOY race were previous pro level tourney winners either on the FLW or PWT. That's pretty darn stiff competition.

The PWT consists of a 4 "Regional" events (not two regions) and 2 "Super Pro" events. Only those anglers who were invited to fish the Super Pro events have the ability to fish all 6 events.

Those who were not invited to fish the Super Pro events, can only fish the 4 Regional events.

Because of this, the majority of the Championship qualifiers will come from those who were able to fish all 6 events, because they can accumulate the most points througout the season.

The same goes for the FLW...make enough points to get in the top 50, and you go to the big show at the end of the year.

thans juls for refreshing my memory and responding ,ok im putting a few examples up . i love these guys and want them at the championship but look.. daryl c. 71st 22nd, 102,33,71, steve f. 50,21,115,103,71, ron s. 98,34,58,69,18 tony p. 115, 52, 57, 83,38, now i cant imagin a championship with out the great Seelhoff or christionson , iv fished with pooch and love tony , and fellogy is a slipp bobber magician that can fish circles around most anyone. im just not fired up ,, just looks like if you fished them all your going to be there... then im looking for guys that fished just the regionals.. man its hard to find guys that fished all four . i see dan steir did pretty well with a 22 ,20,39,41 i see some guys that fished 2 and did well in both ,, but then i look at the names that i listed here and see no big pay checks maybe no checks at all realy? these arent 250 boat tournaments ... if it was 200 boats these finishes would look better.. consider the competion though ,, i guess it doesnt look that bad.. just seems to be something missing.. CONGRADULATIONS TO GARY IF HE HANGS ON AND ALL THE TOP RUNNERS IN THE AOY RACE.. my point is more to the championship i guess.. either way i will be glued to the event and its coverage in print or on tv or dvd... i will be looking forward to seeing all that qualify.. same with the Flw , wow a starting field narrowed down in the final days to a fraction of the original entry count.. this is a true iron mans sport as i looked threw the scheduals these guys fish as i pull up there names... this game is not for the week of mind body or heart...

The big names from the past don't have the "teams" to keep them in the game. They have the one on one skills to beat anyone. BUT! Until the "old" guys get in the "modern day game"....they will continue to lose the consistently good finishes they had in the past.

Bradley,
Your dream is alive and well. All it takes is time, money and ability. No matter where it comes from, how it comes or when it comes. The PWT and the FLW (MWC too) have continued to create and allow the dream. It is up to you or whomever to find the way to do it.

And yes these guys are tough as nails. Worlds deadliest catch? No, perhaps not but nevertheless, they are iron men for sure.

Changes? Count on there always being some. The Walleye scene is still finding its way and continuing to evolve. But for now it is what it is.

Good fishing
Andy

Interesting theory, but wholly lacking in substance. By the way, Parsons is one of the old guys.

The top 30 in AOY go to the championship. When that is decided, remove those 30 names from the open tournaments and the remaining 20 names using open only points go to the championship. That means that perhaps some of the people fishing the super pro who did not qualify in the top thirty could also be included in the 20 from the opens.

well i just got done reading the rules word for word,, (no i dont need a quizz) too much pressure ,,, thanks Doc, that sums it up pretty well , i was originaly under the impression that they were taking 50 and then another twenty this year.. but 30 /20 make sense now ,, looks like the makings of a great show.. and Andy i wont give up just gonna be 4 or 5 years yet till the young ones get out of the nest.. i have a choice ,, start hitting the golf course to hone my skills for the senior tour,, or keep practicing on the lake.. thanks all.

Thanks for posting that Doc - that is what I recalled, but did not have time to research. If memory serves me correct - last years championship winner is also an automatic qualifier - even if he did not qualify through the super pro or regional circuit.

Nope, no longer have a spot for the top amateur. I was planning on fishing every tournament this year as co-angler until I found this out.

Bradley,
You have your priorities in the right place...don't put your family at risk. Golf? I still havn't figured out how to cook those little white things. Our ball is alive and our course moves! Now that is a challenge!
