Good luck to all the MWCers in Dubuque this weekend. Sounds like the bite is pretty good right now.

Cheri,
I called Marge Pelkey this morning, to see how the bite was going for them during prefishing... she would strongly disagree with you! LOL
They've haven't had a walleye all week...(they got over there last weekend). She said a few teams were catching a few fish, but it's not a GOOD bite at all.

The slot here makes the average weights a challenge, because you can't keep the 20-27" inchers. And we only saw one 27+ come across the stage yesterday (Doug Newhoff & Neil Hammargren). However, 82 teams caught fish, averaging 1.78 lbs. They can only keep the 15" to under 20". The top five teams all have over 10 pounds and the top 25 have over 7 lbs.
The fishery looks pretty healthy from our perspective. There were fish caught in the 20-27 range that they couldn't keep. Gut wrenching when it measures 26+ but not over 27!
I think most of the anglers were pretty pleased with the quality here. And the Mississippi Walleye Club has done a GREAT job helping us with tournament operations. What a great group.
That's the update from Dubuque. Good luck to everyone.
p.s. Results on live leaderboard. ;-)

The water has cleared up a lot in the last week but there was some grass and duckweed today. The upper pool went up a foot or so yesterday.

Juls - Well the info that I had gotten from the boys was that the bite was good. They didn't do too bad on Saturday (16th place), but they didn't get the good ones on Sunday. Jim said he talked with Gary and Margie too! Oh well!

I would like to give Larry and Jerry a big Job well done. I have known Larry for about five years from the local walleye club. He has always helped anyone that asks for it. Never keeps secerts after the tournament if tou ask what they were bitting own he will let you know. It could'nt of happened to a better person in my mind. Great job again. Dan
