That is one sweet Michigan schedule! Thanks for giving us Michiganders another chance.

I guess the Fox Valley division has also been formed. It makes it awful difficult for anybody from the western half of WI to compete when all 3 events are within an hour of each other. I'm really dissapointed to see Petenwell omitted from the schedule. Maybe I'll have to look into the MN side.

FYI, it is Rathbun not Rathburn

Marshall do the Heartland and I'll sign up and prefish with you...

I agree that I will miss Petenwell. But, I have seen the turnouts for the chosen sites and they are better than the Petenwell responses. Also, there has been some under the table "complaining" about Petenwell... So, I think a new venue was needed for the first one... Winneconne does do a great job of hosting the tournament and there are plenty of hotel/motel/resort places available. A significant number of the contestants are from the Fox Valley... that counts for a lot...

Me, I'd love to see Genoa, LaCrosse get a play in the Wis Division.... but it won't happen. But, maybe with the new Heartland... those venues might see some tournaments...

I understand why they did it. It just makes it tough to not have that one event within a reasonable distance. I am glad to see the heartland for all of the IL, IA, and others. I was really hoping to have LaCrosse or Genoa get a shot too.

My biggest issue with this schedule is the fact that it's the only individual circuit out there for the "weekend angler". I think Petenwell was a great equalizer.

Wisconsin is also lacking a good traveling team circuit. I really miss the GNWC as they fished good locations all around the state, and actually had decent numbers of boats. I fished a MWS event this year and liked it, but again all the events are on the other side of the state.

I'm hoping somebody steps up to the plate and puts together a circuit that covers more of the state and draws boats. I doubt I will do the Wisconsin side, I will keep the Heartland in mind (but it's still a lot of travel). At least with MN, one of the events is only 1-1/2 hours away.

Looks like a good MN schedule, I might have to step up and be a boater this year.
I just wish they would have the championship on a lake, I'm not real confident in my skills on rivers. Oh well I will have to get over that I guess.

What a crappy wisconsin schedule, its like the mws. boy this is depressing

Boundaries for Moline
09-13-2007, 06:51 AM
I am curious if the Moline tournament will have boundaries. I know for a fact that you cannot have walleye tournaments in Iowa in June, July or August. I realize that they will be taking off out of Moline, IL which is just across the bridge from Iowa. If the DNR finds 20 boats or more fishing the Iowa side of the river, they will constitute it as an Iowa tournament and the people fishing and the organization putting it on will be fined HEAVILY. Can you clarify?

If that's the case, then the tournament will be held on the Illinois side of the river only. Just like they did when they had the Tour Championship there.

Good Schedule for SE Michigan anglers and Ohio anglers. Not so good for Central to Northern MI anglers. I can see why the FLW scheduled the MI division this way though; a numbers game. Trying to draw more anglers from a larger SE Michigan population as well as Ohio anglers. I would say a last ditch effort to save the MI division. If this schedule does not draw more interest I would say the MI division is dead. MI is a tough place to run tourneys right now for a number of reasons... poor economy, high gas prices, and lots of competition.

I notice that the Michigan schedule is the only one with no river tournament options! I was going to try to fish all the Michigan events as a co-angler but now I think I will try to fish Spring Valley and maybe the Wolf river events as they would be better suited to the type of fishing that I want to improve my skills at. By selecting tournaments in the different divisions would it hurt my chances of getting in vs fishing all three events in one division?

I think think the michigan division is a good one but hopefully something can be done about the saginaw bay tournament, August is not what it used to be on the bay. Juls please tell Kevin and Sonny to consider other dates and options,I dont think 2 and half months is a very good time period between the 2 and 3 tornament. What is a up with 2 years in a row having the championship on the mississippi? Its going to be small fish with small bags and throwing willow cats,Driving a long way spending a lot of money for little FUN and little fish is not my idea of a championship NO THANKS.I was there last time and I said I will never go back, and thats why I did not go to Moline, after all is said and done tournament fishing is supposed to be FUN.

Are you kidding me? It is obvious that you have not fished the bay in August. I think the timing is great. I promise you are going to see some big sacks at that tournament. 25-30 pounds to win.

I love the Michigan Schedule.Being a Hoosier,I could see myself fishing that series.I agree with the previous poster about the championship being on the Miss. again.I think they should alternate championships between lakes & rivers every year. Steve

You will see?????

come on, I can't remember more than two or three 30lb bags all year on the bay! I fished four or five tournements on the bay and about all you needed was 20lbs to be in the top five. We won one with 18lbs. I did hear that there was talk of a tournement out of tawas though

So your saying not to have a tournament in August on the Bay because a thirty pound bag might not be caught. That is ridiculous!!! The FLW league made a great decision to have another Saginaw Bay tournament and even a better decision to have it out of AuGres where the anglers will be closer to the winning fish. Also I have no idea what tournament of any importance that it took 18 pounds to win on the Bay. Every tournament on the bay was won with weight between 23-30 pounds. Also Pauleye620 why does it make a difference that there is two and a half months between tournaments?????? The bay is just as good as it always has been it just doesn't have as many big fish. Does that make it an undesirable tournament destination? I don't think so. Nate Seiferlein

Nate,

sorry it came out like that. That's not what i intended. It's great that the flw still comes up here atleast once. I don't care about the months off in between, there is only three tournements your going to have some down time. But the talk off all these big thirty pound bags just got me a little excited. Your right thats what it might take, but there won't be a lot 3-5 bags over 25 lbs. The bay still is an excellent fishery and what better place to have it than Augres.

Nate just did not want to wait that long for the last event, the bay is still a great place to fish, but I dont think thats not the best time of year for it,we all have a good idea that the bait fish are not there like they use to be and at that time of the year the fish are very very skinny and the winning fish are in the outer to outer bay.Fishing with John Gillman on the last event there he could not even believe how it has change and that was in the end of july.Just wanting the best fishing for time spent not trying to cause issues.I caught a 29.5 incher this year and it only weigh 6.2 lbs not good.Congrats on your 2007 fishing year you had a good one.

Paul I found it unusual that you let John drive your boat and make all the decisions during the tourney and still did not win it LOL. Just kiddin bro

Pauleye620, At least they finally got the launch site right and we don't have to run from Linwood to catch fish.
