The Illinois Walleye Trail conducted its 2nd Tournament of the 2008 season on Sunday November 25, 2007 in Henry Illinois. The teams arrived with temperatures in the upper 20's and the water level up about a foot but clarity of the water 12-18 inches. Surface water temps were 44 degrees. By the afternoon bite the weather had gone south with the temps dropping to just above freezing and a mix of snow showers, rain, sleet and snow. This did not stop the teams from doing what they came to do and catch fish and fish they did catch. Over 50% of the field weighed a limit of fish. Finishing with the biggest 6 fish limit was the team of David Kleszyk from Oak Brook Terrace and partner Dave Zurawski from Plainfield, Illinois with 17.73 pounds and a check for $1,175.00. David and Dave caught their fish using jigs and minnows upstream of Henry in the 12 to 14 foot range. Placing 2nd was the father and son team from Frankfort, Illinois Steve and Brian Skupien with 14.63 pounds using 3 ways and crankbaits. Their finish earned them $670.00. The 3rd place team of Bob Hausler from Plano and Chris Clemmons from Millbrook weighed 14.22 pounds for $465.00. Big fish honors and a fourth place finish went to Max Actis and Mike Stuckert from Spring Valley with 13.19 pounds and big Sauger 3.35 pounds cashing $320.00 for big fish pot. Max and Mike as the first Lund Boat owner in the money received the $100.00 bonus certificate complements of Hennepin Marine.

Go back and check out the weights from the last 2 years tourneys. Then go back and check the 5 years before and you will see the difference. Even the dnr shocking/creel counts shows the decline. It`s been a time since we seen nice baskets like that. There is alot of smaller fish13-16 inchers in the river just the saugers of years ago seem to be dissapering.

John, your proabably right there have been a decline in weights over the last couple of years. And i know the big eye carp are hurting us really bad. My comment was kinda directed to those guys you see out there fishing and you ask them if they are gonna fish the tournament on sunday. And there response is #### no there arent no fish here anymore. But then on Sunday when there is 30 boats at the lake. Here they come right up in there and start fishing. Sorry about the rambling. But kinda frys my you know what.

If you really wannab Randy Carroll, just go out and fish and don't worry about the whiners because there's always a few. And by the way, you'll never be RANDY CARROLL, besides one's enough:rotflmao:
