I would do it again and again and again! I have been on 20 or more elk hunts, many bird hunts, whitetail hunts and fishing trips and none of those vacations compared to the fun I had fishing the mille lacs pwt tourney last year! You will learn alot and hopefully make new friends as I did!

Absolutely. Did it in '01 and won so many prizes I doubt there is enough room here to mention them all. But here were some of the major ones:
three rods
two reels
bunches of crankbaits
hand held GpS
Single portable battery charger
gift certificate to Cabelas
Gift certificate ($100) towards purchase of Ocean Waves sunglasses
Ice Cooler
Various spools of line
Bazooka rod storage tube
underwater camera
trolling motor
and much more.
Funny thing is I remember the experience as if it were yesterday. The list of prizes has faded with time! Do it for the experience, figure in the prizes as a bonus.

Done it a few times and LOVED IT!!! Have only won something once, but the experience is awesome. I normally fish probably 200 days a year yet every person I fished with taught me something I've used later. Even when I had bad draws and didn't do that well, the guys were always pleasant and would point out the other guys out on the lake. I never fish these as an amatuer to "win" something. Sure it'd be nice, but you need to look at it as a 3 day guided fishing trip with someone who's going to use their best stuff, go to their best spots, and try their very hardest. You'll NEVER get that from any guide. Especially 3 days worth of it at the price for an amatuer entry.
I have fished one and had a great time. I didn't do it to win anything so the prizes were not a concern of mine. I did it to fish new waters and learn a few things.

I've fished one PWT as 4 FLW's as a am. Both circuits have some very top-notch fisherman, and yes each circuit has people that just seem to have too much money, but like what was said eariler from every person I have fished with I have learned some very good stuff.
My only peice of advice if I were going to do it, is to go to the site for a full week and hook up with a pro for three days of prefishing, most pros are very willing to get another line in the water. Pre-fishing is where I have probably learned the most stuff, you really get to see what goes on "behind the scenes" with eliminating baits, testing leads and lengths, and elimiating water.
Also to the people that say "I don't fish it for the prizes." I don't see how you can 100% say that, to me it's a game and any game you play you play to win. All the pros that you will fish with will be there to win, so you also better be. You start every tournament tied for 1st, hopefully with good draws and a little luck you will end the tournament in 1st.
