Well, they finally got their web site up and running at www.sdwalleyeclassic.com. It will be held out of Akaska, August 27-29, 2008.
Hopefully everyone can make it and it doesn't conflict with your schedule. South Dakota Board of Tourism and Governor Rounds Million Dollar challenge for Tourism is helping with funding.
They are having over 100% pay-outs for Pro's and big pay-outs for Amateur/co-anglers.
Check it out at our web site.

Great Idea!

It's just too bad it's on a Wed, Thur, Friday. Not enough vacation for a format like this :(.

I heard about this and they will have the best from the flw and pwt fishing in it. Ams will have a chance to fish with some great pros.

I think this will be a great tournament, but why the pro am, why not have it partners only. I think you would fill the tourn. w/a partner type format instead of a pro am. Just my 2 cents.

hello everyone,
thanks for the advice and we did look into the partner event, but the word we received from most of the pros we contacted is that they would love to help in a team tournament, but most wouldn't participate. and believe me we contacted a bunch of the pros. the whole cheating issue is very easy to controll with the pro\am format for the simple reason you don't know your partner. please have patience when accessing the web page. it is brand new and some of the bugs are still getting worked out. hope to see everyone soon. thanks again

pro am

I agree with the pro am. It is to easy to cheat when you have teams and for that much money you just dont know what people will do. I dont think that there will be any problem with the tourney filling from what i hear.

Team tournaments are the way to go,expenses split down the middle. If your worried about cheating put a spectator in each of the top 30 boats for the final day..There are plenty of walleye fans out there that would love to see some of these anglers in action...

What about the teams that may cheat on days 1 and 2? Aren't we concerned about how they GET themselves into the top 30??

Anybody that fishes alot of tournaments would understand what you would have to lose by cheating..

This looks like a cool tourny. I would guess this will not have a problem filling. How many teams are allowed?

Nice job,

if you want to fish in teams both enter as a pro share info and split everything. People will cheat no matter what they have to lose. This going to be a great tourney and fishing in agust will prove who can fish and who cant.

Surprised

I was just curious who the sponsors are with these kinds of payouts? Also REALLY surprised that a tourney like this would take place in Aug. because it has to be a KILL tourney. Is the state of SD sponsoring this????

Too the tourney staff. Will you change event sites each year??

hello again,
yes the state of sd is sponsoring this event through the sd dept of tourism. this is a way for the state to get more traffic during a time that is usually pretty slow. the last two pwt tourneys held on oahe were kill tournaments and this was not an issue. all the fish will be donated to non-profit organizations. we don't plan on any future changes in tourney site, the community of akaska has been working around the clock to make sure that this event is a huge success. we are proud to say that we are having a great response from the sponsors we have contacted and are working everyday on new ones.

I guess it all comes down to can you fish with out your certain teammate. If you can you will enter this and prove it to every one. I cant think of a better time than agust to have a tourney. In may and june it is a crap shoot on who will get a big fish to go with all the fish being caught. this time of year is hard and that is what i want to see when you have the best of the best fishing.

Congrats on a great tournament format. It is nice to see organizations step it up and offer a big format like this. I think anglers need to respect the effort that goes into the decision making for a tournament. If you don't like the format or time of year, don't fish. But I think it is great! Good Job!

It is posts like these that make it easier for those of us putting loads of time in on this to keep a possitive, and excited attitude about hosting this tourney, and having all the great fishermen from all areas join in on the fun of it all........

Can you keep us kind of updated on the amount of entries (pro & am) that you have so we can see how quickly we need to pull the trigger? Thanks Jim
