I’m not sure what to attribute it to, but we are still lacking interest in this event.

If you have interest, we would like to see you come out for what should shape up to be a great event.

Thanks,

Jason Sullivan

That will be a tought tournament with that slot limit on the lake. Catching walleyes shouldn't be a problem. If I lived closer I would give it a try. Which landing will the tourney go out of?

I fished there on Memorial Day weekend and had to throw back at least 10 walleyes that were between 14 1/2- and 17 1/4". Two of us had little trouble catching our limit of under 14" fish. Not to anger anyone, but that is probably the reason there is a lack of interest. Unless you get two fish over 18" the weights will be low.

We currently have 5 teams. We will need some additional teams to join us very soon in order to hold the event.

That's too bad Kirt. The fishing is just SILLY good right now. I've been guiding the past two days, and we've had 10 fish between 18 and 23 inches (in addition to scads of 15-18 inchers). In our tuesday night league this week, there were 2 fish over 25 and another fish or two between 24 and 25. The big fish are available, there are plenty of unders and slots available, the chew is on!

While the turnout is small right now, we are going to hold the tournament come heck or high water. Guys who want to enter can download the entry form from my website (www.jasonhalfenoutdoors.com) or shoot me an e-mail at jason@jasonhalfenoutdoors.com.

We enjoyed a really nice day and a very good bite for the inaugural edition of the Lake Wissota Open walleye tournament.

Our winning team (Jon and Jason Klohs, father and son) brought a 4 fish limit to the scales (2 hours early) weighing 8.28 lbs. Their bag also included the tournament's big fish at 3.68 lbs. Team Klohs pulled cranks and pitched bait to shallow weeds to land the big sack of the day.

The Lake Wissota Open will be back in 2009. With gas prices going nowhere (but up) fast, I hope some of you local guys consider putting us on your torunament schedule for next year.

Sounds like fun was had anyway. A decent bag for the lake I would say. But that is only going by what I have caught there.

Next year if you hold the tourney, let us know a good month in advance. My wife ran in a marathon last weekend so there was no chance of me getting in, but there is next year.
