PWT Question

IS there any place you can find out how many pros are entered into the PWT events this year?

Anybody out there have the numbers?

I called the office, but have received no response.

And why would you need this information? If you have the credentials you may apply for any of the tour stops. It does not matter how many applications they have, they choose the best that apply.

Why pick on a guy for asking a simple question. Didn't see anyone jumping on the person that asked the same question of the FLW. I want to know the numbers also. Not because I don't have the credentials or want to fish it. I just want to know. Have an inquiring mind don't you know. Now go pick on someone your own size.:boxing:

A number of us would like to know. The prospect of fishing half full circuits with reduced payouts is one reasonable concern an angler may have for starters. No need to rip anyone for that.

Bawwhahahahah! :funnypost:

If you've got the boat and the entry fee you're in.

"good question," if you and everyone else waits to see if the tourney is going to be close to filling, how is it ever going to fill? You expect everyone else to sign up before you?

jeezzz, for minute there I thought I was the only one in the wrong. Thanks for the back up. If you want to fish a certain tourny at a certain location, does it really matter how many entries are in the event? Never did to me.

Stacker 1,

You make the incorrect assumption that we are all waiting to sign up. A number of us have already. Which is why some of us may have these concerns.

Yes, it does matter how full a tournament or circuit is going to be. When you travel 300-1400 miles to fish individual tournaments it does matter in a big way and here are some of the reasons.

1. $1500.00+ entry fees.

2. Travel expenses that have nearly doubled in the last four years.

3.Gas predicted to exceed $4.00 a gallon this summer which will have a increasing cost on all facets of our doing business.

4. Fishing with half full fields will reduce payouts including how far down into the field the payouts go. Factor in all the above expenses and the possible prospect of having to make the top ten just to break even and it can become a little unsettling and hard to pencil out. Add it all up and as I said before, it is a reasonable request to want to know IF a tournament is filling. Some tournament directors and tournament organizations are very forthcoming in this information, some aren't.

Granted, less time away from work, lower entry fees, few if any travel expenses will have an impact on your decision to participate in tournaments whatever the numbers. That is, if the tournaments you are referring to are the local Bar, fishing club or small circuit tournaments in your area. If that is the case, then I completely agree with you. Go for it.

When it comes to the PWT, FLW or MWC, knowing the possible potential for even getting close to the posted payouts actually exists is a reasonable concern. Speaking only for myself, I am not so wealthy that I can take my money and pee into the wind with it when the only possible end result being to stroke my own ego... or as it has been described by one circuit, Bragging rights"

I believe you were referring to the post 34475 by What, that addressed your concerns about waiting to sign up. Not stacker.

It has been my experience that the guys and gals fishing flw and pwt dont get so concerned about the fields filling. It does seem to be on the minds of the guys fishing the mwc and its not even the perrenial teams, just new ones. spitting in the wind does come into play with less than full pots when you win money, i agree, local or not. The guys starting out feel that the 50 bucks they pay is just as enormous as your 1500 to play. However, IF you fish the 2 big pro-ams, you decided that you play at a top level and you should act that way. Otherwise you put doubt in the minds of the rookies who will help to fill the fields. Always talking pro-active about the circuits will help this. Also, the mwc posts there lists, so that sshould be of no concern either.

In conclusion, you are an embassador of the sport and most fans would like to see you carry your self in that manner. If you are worried about how deep the field is getting paid may be a sign that you are not showing up to win, but to just get by.

Have a great season, and if you choose to identify your seelf, i am sure you will have a cheering section.
