View Full Version : I think she likes me!!
A Loomis and a Stradic for Christmas, two Diama SG27LGs as a pre Valentine's Day present, and she even likes to fish!! Before a local tourney last year she made a run (165 miles) for some special reef runners, got me a second place finish and now she wants to know when she gets to fish some tournaments with me. Blond hair, blue eyes, I might just have a keeper!! One awesome gal!! Even talks about getting rid of my 1850 Sportfish for a "sparkly" one (Ranger or Champion)!

I bought a new 2050 sportfish and a 225hp evinrude 2 weeks ago. Last week I was driving down the highway with my brother-in-law in the front of my wife's Yukon and her and her sister in the back seat. I was telling my brother-in-law how proud I was of my wife for giving her blessing to the purchase of the new boat and motor, when she leaned over the seat and said to him. "I didn't give it my blessing, what I said was, anyone who would spend that kind of money on a boat and motor is crazy, and he took that as a yes." Then she laughed. Ya gotta like those kind of girls.

Does she hunt, too? And, does she have a sister???
She likes to come along hunting and watch deer/ducks/geese; but she hasn't ever shot anything with me. She is going to apply for a deer tag this fall and she's pumped! Two sisters - both spoken for though!

What did you tell her? She sounds like a great gal, and sounds as if she would make you a great partner. Go for it!

Does she use a drop of Hoppe's #9 behind each ear as perfume? My wife used to say she did that to get my attention in our dating days.
She's agreeable to a new boat, or a guided elk hunt, a Beratta side-by-side shotgun, or a winter vacation at a Costa Rica fishing resort. Last kid's out of college this spring, so next year could have some hard choices.
Life is good when you find a good one the first time out.

My wife is a dandy too, the only hunting/fishing thing she said she would never do again was duck hunting. I don't think she liked the feathers in her mouth after retrieving. :)

I said YES! We are going to fish the "Walleye Widows" Tourney in the first part of July on Devils Lake. I think that it should be a great time.
and Juls - good luck in your rookie season!! Are you going to fish the PWT on the Devil?

Cool!! Good luck! Hey, and when she asks you to let her run the boat, let her. ;-)
Thanks for the good luck wishes, I'll take them.
Nope, I'm not fishing any of the PWT's. Going the route of the RCL and a couple MWC's and the Wave Whacker.

Funny you say that. My sister hardly even knew how to fish 6 years ago. Now her and hubby own a nice fishing rig (she insisted) and when out on the water, she does most of the boat control and is getting pretty darn good at it! There's no turning back for her now, she's an addict for life!

I read here, "my wife is great she lets me do what I want to do and buy what I want to buy." Great! But, what do you guys do FOR her, take her fishing???? Is she telling her friends, "oh my boyfriend (husband) is wonderful, he goes fishing and hunting all the time and buys himself boats and guns and trucks and equipment etc. etc." Remember, it's a two-way street......
Bob- You hit it right on. My wife is everything I could ever ask her to be. Often I forget and don't think as you've instructed. We must take care of the prized possesions.
Good Luck and do something special for that one person today!

Putz,
My wife just had her birthday last week. I "bought her" a Lund 1675 ProSport for her BD. She's so excited about it that she's e-mailing all of her work friends and Minnesota relatives the Lund homepage that shows the boat. Oh yeah, she shows me her appreciation - frequently.
She plays with some of my cranks thinking of which are going to be "hers" this season.
Putz, keep her happy & she'll keep you happy <wink>.

Putz,
If you're wondering what you should do, like her asking her to marry you, and you don't know how much more info you need to make the decision to propose, see the movie "A Beautiful Mind."
Pay attention to Russel Crowe when he's struggling with the same "theoretical issue" and asks his girlfriend for "data." IMHO, her response to him may help you.
"Carpe dame!" - "Seize the woman!" Good luck.

Keep her on the line and don't loose her! I got mine two years ago. Got married at Marble head light then went to the S.Bass and fished for a couple of days with the boys (she had to go back to teach at school). A month later we went to Lake of the Woods for our honeymoon. A month later she said I should go buy my 2025 Pro V. She doesn't care much for fishing but she will sit out and read a book or keep me company. Good ones are hard to find but when you do, don't let her get away.
Good Luck!

Bob Oh,
Good call. I'd like to add something that a real "outdoorsy" buddy of mine once said. "There's no such thing as bad weather - only bad gear!" The Secret Storm? Putz will learn that most women seem to have a colder metabolism than most men.
Based on that, I got my wife high end outdoor gear so she's always comfortable when she is "in the field with me." She'll stand in her 5-mm neoprene waders (with foot warmers in her insulated inserts) in winter rivers with ice patches floating by watching the skies for "quacks" to come in to the decoys (she doesn't shoot), while my yellow & black labs wait to retrieve my spent shells when I miss the birds.
She made the final decision on what Lund fishing boat we got to assure that she was comfortable with its weather protection. We'll spend many hours & years together enjoying the pursuit of fin & feathered friends. Maybe the only thing I won't pass to her is my favorite musky reel - my 30-year old Garcia Amabassador 6000C <grin>?

TomD,
Whadya' mean? Do you recall the scene from the movie the "Dead Poet's Society" at the trophy case? Don't you rememember what the adolescent boys were whispering when Robin Williams faintly said "Carpe Diem?" The boys were saying what all teenage boys say - "Carpe Dame!"
Go fer it, Putz. Sounds like you've got some good, mutual interests. But remember, there is life beyond outdoor pursuits. When you're no longer able to swing your pole, will she still love you in the morning?
