I have a globalmap 100 and the ims marine & recreation cd.

I have hooked the unit up to the pc and tried several times to update from the cd but it keeps telling me communications failed.

Wondered if anyone else has been down this road and has any suggestions.

Thanks in advance, Mark

There is a setting to choose upload speed....can't remember exactly what the term they used in the manual. Anyway, choose a slower speed. Think maybe bps speed???

Dont have that unit, but I can take a stab at it. What kind of connection does it use?? Serial? USB?

Watch how many COM ports are hooked up at the same time and active
19200 I think is the speed setting. Is this the first time you used it? If it is , create your maps first in Mapcreate then connect to the unit, select a partition to download to.

Updates on waypoints are done in the other program, have to do a connect there too. Be unconnected on the other. Modems, fax machine will use up com ports.

I had the same problem and you might have upgraded somthing before and it is interfering. I would suggest you call Lowrance and talk to a tech person. The first question they will ask is if you are at you computer. They will be able to help you it worked for me.

I changed the baud rate to 1200 and it worked.

Thanks
