I have a new Lowrance 15MT sonar/GPS unit. I am thinking of buying a Navionics chart to download into it (for Lake of the Woods).

Can anyone tell me if the charts are any good? Is the detail as good as the hydrographic maps. At $200 for the chip ... that buys a lot of laminated maps!

Thanks for input

I bought the Navionics map for my Lowrance 1600 and it was well worth it. I bought the Southeast section, Miles Bay Obaoikon lake ect and it would be hard to get lost with them. I have an X-15 and I bought the Hot Spots maps that Navionics makes for them and they are cheaper then the Navionics maps but they are not as accurate. The reason is I bought the whole lake for like $75.00 to try something new. I have two GPS units on my boat and the reason is the X-15 replaced my X-70 so I added the gps. Buy the Navionics maps and not the Hot Spots maps......

Just to clear things up, the LOTW map from Navionics IS Fishing Hot Spots data.

You are correct Navionics transformed the Hot Spots data to be down loaded into a GPS unit. The Hot Spots are nice maps but the Navionics are more accurate. I have both and I was going though a channel and the Navionics showed me in the middle. The Hot Spots showed me on shore and that happened more then once. Not to say that the Hot Spots might not be accurate, But maybe just for that lake. They might be fine for others.

Thunder: I have the X15 MT and have the Navionics Map for the southwest LOTW and the detail is fantastic. That one covers from Warroad to the Angle to the Gap and up the river too. Even calls out the resorts on the river. I fish the islands from Stony to Garden to Three Sisters and back to the Gap. I find I can just cross hairs the spot I want, and go to it. Like finding a hump or sholes is no problem. Archies reef is easy to find and I go right to it from the Gap on a direct path. Even over into Basil channel or Morson is no big deal around the Islands. The bouys are on the mapping too. Depth markings are a little off, but the lake levels change alot and thats what the sounder is for. I paid $188. for my chip, but be careful you can wipe it out if you punch the wrong button. I want to get some more for this summer, for Lake Superior and Mich. Go FOR IT.....Kaz

Does anyone have the XL maps for the X-15 or the Navionics maps for Lake Michagan area? What I'm interested in is Lake Winnebago.
Any info would be great, before I would spend $200.00

Does anyone have the Navionics map for lake Erie running in their X-15?

Can you tell me what kind of detail you get with this map? What is the zoom range?

I have a X-15MT with the GPS and love it, but I'm considering buying a second unit just for GPS.

What would you recommend, Lowrance, Garmin with WAAS, Blue Charts, Navionics maps. I am looking for the most accurate system and mapping available.

A little lost,
Kim

I have the global map 3000, I also have the navionics maps for Erie and Winnebago. I guide on Winnebago and just love them. The detail is awsome for Winnebago, if you are going to purchase for there don't forget the upper lakes also. They are especially great for find the edges of the reefs on both Erie and Winnebago. The detail is great my hat is off to navionics!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rick,
When you say you have the navionics. Is that the XL charts or the hot spots? What are they called on the web page of the Navionics site?
