A local tackle store has been involved in something similar here in Colorado. From what I understand, Berkley (I think) gives this guy hundreds of kids rods and reels and he hands them out at the kids derby. He puts together a grab bag for the kids. Try your local tackle store and see if you can get the contact info for his sales reps. They might help too.

Two other areas you might try are retail chain stores such as Sportsmart and such. Also, if you belong to a club see if any of your members are sponsored. I am sponsored by Eagle Claw and they help my club alot when we have our outing. Good luck, JJb

I solicited prizes for a company fishing tournement for three years.I simply visited every bait and tackle store in our area, and most were happy to donate,in return for listing them on our fliers as a sponser. My advice is to go in person, no phone calls! And if you are soliciting chain stores,K Mart,Wallmart, Gander mountain etc. they need alot of lead time, as they have request forms and corporate approval prosseses to go through. You might try the factory reps at sport shows this time of year.Good Luck.

I'd go to Cabelas web site first as they have a link that's just for donations that they give out for fishing tounaments.
I believe you fill out a registration form or quesioneer and explain the function and they get back to you and let you know what, if anythng, that they're willing to do for you.
They've been real fair to deal with in my experiences and love the kids derbys and tournaments.
Otherwise, like the others have said, a trip around town to the local merchants will always get some results, especially if their name appears on the flyers.

Thanks everyone I will try all your suggestions and just hope for the best when talking to the local bait stores and retail stores.
