I troll lake Erie's central basin for walleye. In our prime season of late summer we often have to go to depths of 50-60ft. According to the latest edition of Precision Trolling I should be able to do this with agressive divers,200ft droplenghts of 10-14lbs superbraid and snapweights BUT will the inline boards pull it? (For embarassing reasons I can't use big boards)
Now the questions
Will it work?
Which of the boards will pull this load the best?
Any body figured out another way to reach those depths?
P.S. Sorry I missed you last year Hutch. Maybe with can rectify that this year.

I fish the even deeper east basin. I run the OffShore boards. Different combinations I run are segmented lead core (6,7, and 8 colors) and shallow running stick baits or meat rigs with 3 to 4oz snap weights off fireline. I have bounced bottom in 80' with longer meat rigs that don't require the speed of an artificial.

Last August we ran spinner rigs in 78'-85' using 3oz snap weights, 14# Trilene XT, and off-shore boards. 50' of line, weight, 90'-125' more line, clip on board, let it out and get ready. 8 biggest weighed 59# plus. Have fun!!

I've run Manns Stretch 25s down 40+ feet in the Central Basin behind my Wille inline boards with no problem. No problem, that is, except when it's time to reel 'em back in. :-) You may want to start working on forearm exercises.

Fish Seekers are an alternative. Adjustable up to 70' deep in 5 ft increments w/100-150 ft leads. Suitable for stickbaits, spoons, and harness rigs. OK w/boards. I've used them @ 65' off Fairport with harnesses & western basin w/spoons & sticks.

The OR-12 In line planer boards by Off Shore Tackle will handle the task quite well. I routinely use them in just the scenario you are talking about. Check them out in the products section here, or at your local tackle shop. Good Luck!
