That price for a bow mount is not bad.

That being said, a 42" shaft will be too short for most boats, and 56# thrust is probably on the bubble for power. This may be the reason for the price.

What type of boat were you gonna put it on?

Ummm its for a smaller boat,..I'll have to measure it,..I'm pretty sure it "ought" to be enough,..but before I order one I'll certainly do that,..do you know HOW to measure to feel its enough?

If the motor is from the "sportmans guide" it's probably a reconditioned motor. It does sound like a good price though. I have a Minnkota 40lb on my bow (161/2 foot boat") and it works under most conditions.

Basically you measure the distance from the top of your bow to the waterline. (may be tough in the winter, but you may see the waterline on your boat). Minn Kota recommends a 42" shaft for measurements of 16"-22". Plus, you should add 5" to the waterline measurement if you fish in choppy water.

The full table can be seen at www.northlandmarine.com

If your boat is small, the power of this motor should be adequate.

Hope this helps.
