Has anyone used the P-line Floroice? What is your opinion of it for ice fishing and your comments on other recommended ice lines over regular mono?

I am testing Power Pro #8 with #1 diameter this season under the ice. So far I love it.

Very thin, low-vis, very flexible, and 0 stretch so any tap you know it right now.

I have noticed a marked improvement in line guide icing. It has far less icing then thicker monos and other super-braids I have used in the past.

WAeyes.
I have not tried any braids during ice fishing. I like a little stretch when doing the ice thing, so I use either 10 pound Maxima or 12 pound Big Game. I tend to be a little (lets say)ancious, especially if the day has been slow. And when I see the ol'FL-8 light up with a big mark hovering next to my Do-Jigger or my Gens Worm, I know that that reflex-rip will be on hair trigger when it takes my bait. I also went to a more flexable/forgiving rod because of that uncontrolable habbit.

I like Power pro most of the year, but not during ice season. Every time I have used it, it seems to absorb water then freeze to the spool. Trilene XL is good and 14 lb Sensation is great for my heavy pike and Laker rod. Some baits like airplane jigs work much better with thicker diameter line! 14 lb Sensation is the same diameter as 10 lb XT. Fireline works well for jigs and light spoons if the air temp is above freezing and it doesn't seem to absorb as much water. I always carry four or five spools with different kinds of line to switch out during ice season.

Has anybody tried Iron Silk yet?

How does it differ from braids and Mono?

IronSilk has has far less stretch then mono and very abrasion resistant, yet manageable.

The Iron Silk sounds interesting BE. I am looking for something with a little stretch but not as much as mono that is also very abrasion resistant. I love Power Pro casting jigs but I think I want a little more forgiveness for ice fishing. Does the Iron Silk fall in between mono and Power Pro for stretch? Does anyone know the characteristics of the P-Line Floroice?

Anxious when fishing? No, not me ;) ##### I'm a wreck! I need a little stretch too, otherwise there maybe lips coming in on my jigs.

All these new lines! It is starting to get confusing?

I did find a link with some info but it does not mention how much stretch or abrasion qualities. http://www.p-line.com/products/lines/floroice.html

Thats why I really prefer the glass rods for the heavy work! If you think about it and you are using heavy spoons, swimbaits, bladebaits or jigs, with a braid or low stretch mono, you are only going to have about 20 feet of line out anyway! How much stretch is there going to be anyway? The glass cushions the blow some! The Thorne rods are of such quality even the glass rods are easy to hold all day!

I just spooled up a reel with Berkleys MicroIce. I normally just use 8# Stren but I liked the color of the new line, almost silver and thought I'd give it a try. I guess when it comes to braids I'm one of the few that likes Fusion by Spiderwire, its the same price as mono but lasts longer and I've always had good luck with it. It does wear a little faster than Fireline but normally you can pick it up at 1/3 the cost. I'm getting a little antsy to go fishing, in between right now, put the boat away but no hard water yetx(
