WALLEYE DREAMING

Have done most of my ice fishing for walleye on the the saginaw river and the bay. I have fished erie a couple of times by stoney point when the power plant was shut down. Iv'e heard horror stories of terrible ice conditions in ohio waters unless weather conditions arejust right. Is anybody out there willing to share info on ice fishing erie. I don't want gps numbers or any thing just a spot where you can get out without too much trouble. Thanks in advance.

The last 2 years weve been fishing near point pelee ontario. Lots of big perch. Infact there are so many and so cooperative we have never went out to target walleyes. But we have jigged up a few, even had a couple steelhead on! Ill let you know when there is safe ice!

Hey buddy, I'd be interested in more detail about those Canadian perch. Never ice-fished Erie before, and St. Clair hasn't been good to me for a couple of years now.

Here's a site for the Islands area ice guides. Contact any of them for up to the minute info. Good luck & be safe.

O.k. sounds like you guys have never heard of the area. I may be kicking myself in the teeth for this one,,, but theres a big area too fish, and I usually hit it during the week!

We fish the west side of the point close to the park gates, south of the marina, generally infront of Sturgeon creek. You will see the cars parked at the access. You can walk offshore and be fishing in 10 minutes in 30' of water. Just the normal tip-up deal with a couple shiners. Weve also used small jigging raps with good success. 2 shiners on hooks and you wont want to fish 2 lines,, gets too frustrating and you can pile 50 up very quickly!

North-east wind can be very hazardous out there, the air boats will bring you in,, but they will make you leave all your gear and fish and they will own it on the next trip out! With the weather we are having early january it may be a go,, unfortunately ive got 18 more days on my duck season and the ramps are frozen and quite honestly id rather be duck hunting!!lol...
