View Full Version : In comparing the Lazy Ike to the Flatfish... I come up
unhappy with the Flatfish's performance in the water.
I'm doing this poll to see if it's just me or if other
users agree in general with me.

When I use to troll alot for trout and Salmon we caught alot of nice fish on Frog and Red with Black dots Flatfish. Kwikfish work well also!

Back along time ago my grandfather, grandmother and and my childhood self spent many, many days trolling for walleyes on Lake Winnebago. Always I chose to hook a certain Lazy Ike on my line and I always caught more walleyes.
I remember gobbing a whole nightcrawler on the middle hook and along with a rubber core sinker let it bump along the bottom. They always called me lucky, but I think this one bait I liked had a special action to it.
One day a snag took my prize away. I still remember the day well as tears welled up when the line snapped. We tried to find another one that color with no luck. Shortly after I found out what girls were for and forgot about walleyes.
It was a plastic model and was mostly orange with a chrome side and a yellow eye. Anyone has that one I'll pay a kings ransom for it.:-)
Of the plastic lures available today the Ike dives deeper and can be trolled faster that the Flatfish. The Flatfish is much better at slow speeds "walking the dog" style fishing over and around the weed beds. A lure that surpassed both was the OKee-Doke. You can troll it as fast as the Ike and it will dive deeper, down to bottom over the Bago mud flats without adding as much extra weight as required by the Ike. It will also "walk the dog" with great action on a slow retrieve. The OKee-Doke was the HOT bait on Bago 20 years ago.
Disreguard everything I said above and send any old OKee-Doke you may have to me for proper burial. I will compensate you for shipping / mailing costs. Just click on the email link above to contact me for the shipping info etc. Thank You; BD

They both caught fish in the 60's and both have every year since.
