Everyone talks about slabbing but rarely mentions exactly what they are using. A wide variety of "spoons" can be used for jigging, some of which are hard-pressed to really fit the description of "spoons." What are the top choices for 'eyes if I wanted to stock up on several different types, sizes and colors. Please be specific as to brands and names of lures. For example, is the BPS jigging spoon as good as the Hopkins which it seems to imitate? This is a typical winter day question; if it were any other season, I would be fishing and not worrying about stocking up for next year.

Hopkins Shorty, Krocadile, Rocker Minnow, and Crippled Herrings are what I have. But I am sure there are lots of other brands? Goto www.fishtechoutdoors.com and click on spoons. They specialize in Striper and Walleye spoons also.

Try these, they work great tipped with a worm or minnow.
My favorite colors are silver holographic and chart.

Have a look at the new slammers. They do make a fair amount of the smaller ones in 1/2, 3/4, 1., and 1 1/2 oz but not many shown. These have been producing for us in the deep waters of 50-70'.

Steve, I am kinda partial to the Flea FLy and Bomber spoons. The 1 oz. white Bomber was a standard in the fall at Boyd. The Fea Fly 1 1/2 oz. in white/chart. was the ticket at Glendo this fall. I was using the 1 1/2 oz. Flea Fly style slabs at Pueblo this past weekend, MikeCo gave me a hand full he made and they worked great. Collie

Steve, Bennetts in Berthoud sells the Fle Fly slabs and I think Sportsmans was working on getting in the Bombers. Collie
