I agree with JK I started using the small Silver Streaks last year with good results and love them. They hold up 10 times better then stingers. I would suggest trying these spoons there great alot of colors to pick from too...

While I still use some michigan stinger, scorpion spoons I also use a lot of Luhr Jensen, Krocodile's in the smaller sizes. They have several in copper material with colors I like. Also this past season I got a bunch of spoon bodies from Jann's netcrafters in Toledo. They are just the body with no hooks, but after installing top grade hooks and a snap ring I have about $1.00 each in them. They are holding up well and caught a bunch of fish last year. I stick to the gold/copper/brass backs with red, orange or any bright color on the front side. Both Krocodiles and the Jann's hold up much better than the MI stingers as far as paint staying on.

PAS LURES makes a spoon "FINTAIL". I have used then for 2 years and have great success with them. I fish Lake Erie out of Cleveland. PAS Lures Paslures@sol.com.

I agree with howsweetitis. I was looking for something in between the scorpion and full size stinger and found some fintail at walmart. I fished them along side both size stingers but only for a couple of weeks. They outpreformed by such an obvious margin that by the end of the year they were all I ran. Best colors for me were a watermelon (they have a differt name for it) and a copper with yellow tape. They hold up better than scorpions but they do have problems with paint comming off too.

Hi,
I was reading the reports from the Lorain Area on fisherie.com and a Charter Captain said in his reports that he was using Zoom Spoons.Any one know if these are any good.

Another vote for the PAS spoons. They work good for me both on lake Eire and the Mississippi river. Fair price, the paint stays on, good action and hooks. Try some, you'll be happy with the end results. # 102, 103, 106 & 112 were my best colors on Eire this season. Hutch

The Zoom spoons are decent, as are the Pa's spoons. i sell all of them in the shop, but i can honestly say that even after the guys compare them to the stingers, most will still buy the stingers. i am being strictly non partial on this. another good spoon is the Pirate spoon, made by renoski. they all work at given times better than others. but over-all it seems as the stingers out-do the rest. good luck and good fishin.

The Evil eye spoon is another that will produce. I've taken Reef Runner Slender Spoons (made for ice fishing), reversed them and caught fish on them also. If what you're running isn't producing, try something smaller, larger or different somehow, and see what happens.

Have you tried the Stinger Spoons from the last year or so,(not the ones from 2000 and early 2001) Make sure you get the newest ones and the paint problem is gone. I love the stinger scorpion spoon behind the dipsy but I to had the paint problem. After about 10-20 fish it would start to peel some colors, but I figured hey if it caught 10 -20 fish it was worth the $2.79 because when I use crawlers I only got maybe 6 fish per $2.00 doz.
Now this year I bought a bunch of my best colors and they have held up great!!! some had over 60 fish on them with no problems. I'm glad it is fixed now because I still believe they are the best spoon and the paint thing just turned people off to them even though they liked them.

Talk about some nice spoons, i saw Paws new Fintail Spoons wiyh Holographic Tape on them. Called him to find out when they will be out, was told that Wal Mart will have some around the first of the year.. If i were you i would wait to see these before you buy your next walleye spoon.I have used spoons for years and have never seen anything that can match these.

What were your best colors in the scorpians?

I saw the halographic fintails also. They sure look like fish catchers. I was under the impression they were painted instead of tape. Either way I plan on getting a few.

Another go to on a tough Erie bite spoon for me is the Silver Leaf. My stock is getting low anybody know where I can get them?

stinger spoons have been working good for me the last 2 year. I only use chrome beaded on downriggers.they work so good why change?I fish lake erie mostly out of conneaut but have fished the whole lake from west sister island to niagra falls. Smaller spoons picked up smaller fish .Good eating.

I heard that someone who first mates out of Geneva has some new Holographic Spoons to show at a fish club meeting,i think he said in Dec or Jan. Let me know if you belong to a fishing club out in that area,I'm kind of curious about how they might look.If not you maybe someone else would be kind enough to past the information along if they see them. Thanks.

I have to agree on the Stinger spoons as being my favorites as well. The new baitfish patterns that they came out with this past year worked very well off of the port of Muskegon on the Salmon this summer!

Fishlander just came out with a trolling spoon about the same size as the little Stinger. It has a great action, and I have caught some real nice fish of all species on it. www.fishlander.com

I called the Manf. and asked where i could see these new Holographic spoons that people are talking about. I was told that Gander Mountain out in Mentor will have sose samples to show people soon, and also Sportsmans Outpost in Vermilion already has some. They gave me a few other places that have samples but I cant remember who they were,I'll give them a call when i can and post additional names when i get them.

EZMARK...I found the silver leaf spoons on pg 92 of the Cabelas tackle shop catalog. Interseting looking spoon and they seem to have some good colors. I'm going to pick up a few. Thanks for the heads up.

Switched over to some serious trolling last year. Used both the Stingers and the Fintail spoons. Caught a lot of fish on both spoons. But when the year was ending the Stingers had very little paint on but the Fintail still looked great. So this year i think i will just add more colors to my Fintail line of spoons.
