if you had to choose a product or company that best fit a lady fishing pro as an endorsee, which would it be? fast food chain, soft drink co., sportswear, discount chain store, suv brand, cosmetic label, or what?
just checking out how your walleye world is thinking!

How about a lure, line co., sonar, pole co., and something actually fishing related? I don't expect to see any pink Lunds in a tourney, selling cosmetics.

I guess I don't see walleye fishing as being gender specific. They don't sell to any female lures or male lures near me. We all use the same thing to a certain extent.

Why can't a woman be a spokesperson for a fishing industry company? None of your examples are fishing related.

All of these examples would be acceptable to either gender. Yes, even the cosmetic's company. We all should be aware of the dangers we face from overexposure to the sun and wind and what this does to our skin. We all buy clothes and drink soft drinks. Who doesn't eat at a fastfood restaurant while on a trip? There is really no reason these or any other company's can't be tied in for Tournament Anglers. How about a Hotel chain endorsement? Gas stations. Sunglasses manufacturers. Tires for our trucks and trailers. Snack foods in the boat. It doesn't have to be rods, reels, line, hooks, or boats all the time. We use all kinds of products and services.

Ad Agency: I was in the Cosmetic business for over 40 years and we manufafactured Sun Screen and Hand Lotion products as well as Shampoos and Conditioners. We even had a Udder Creme we sold to the hardware and sporting goods companies. I directed our marketing group to investigate the possibility for a person to carry our banner in the fishing world. We found that even though sportspersons were looking for funding, no one wanted to break away from the normal type of product lines. We also contacted the fishing product reps and they advised us we didn't fit the "profile". We were a nationwide company and were willing to spend a fair amount money in the hot markets where fishing is most popular. I had the Lab even make a product containing freeze dried Minnows, Nightcrawlers, and Crayfish, in a base that would stay on a lure after trolling for 30 minutes. We used the same process we used to make protein stay in the hair in hair products. We could not get any rep group to bring it to market. They all said it was a conflict. Well maybe things have changed now, but I sold the company two years ago and now I just go fishing myself. Minneapolis had several companies in the health and beauty business, several were large national firms, but now no branded ones exist, and only a couple that make private label companies still manufacture there. It's a tough market, one we gave up on.... Good luck FISHING....Kaz

I see no reason why she could not comment on boat/motor/trailer combinations.

I see TONS of ads with women in them for cosmetics, food, and diet products. To me, adding a female fishing pro to that list of hawkers is not using the female fishing pro's best asset ... her credibility and appeal as a fishing pro. I would think THAT is what you would want to capitalize on, not the fact that she is female ... but the fact that she is a FEMALE FISHING PRO. There are darn few of them ... but a LOT of women who fish!! That is where your potential market is. And, if she is good-looking or even average, she will get guys attention too ... something about us guys liking to look at ladies. I have heard that sells stuff.

Just my perspective.

As a lady sportsman, for many years, not only fishing, I had to deal with wearing mens clothing, ball shoes, etc. because retailers did not carry womens sizes. If you have noticed the anatomy is a tad different. Only in recent years have retailers realized there was a large market in womens sportwear. I can now fish, hunt, play ball or whatever in comfortable gear that actually FITS me. Before, I usually wore my hubby's leftovers, cuz why buy and spend the big money for gear that just doesn't fit and is uncomfortable. Having the proper clothing that keeps my dry and warm is the MOST important item on my list when I plan the tournys with my husband. I know I will have a great time and not worry about getting cold, wet and constantly adjusting my clothling.
