I'm in the market for a new locator and am looking at the Lowrance x-15 w/o the gps. I'm wondering if I need this much compared to the new x-91. Both have 3000 watts of power. What exactly does that mean in terms of usage? Then I see the Eagle Fishmark 240 appears to be the same machine as the 91 only has 1200 watts but has same pixel count. I fish usually in 40 ft. of water or less. Any input on these would be greatly appreciated.

I think that the higher power will give you better definition down deep, but if you're fishing in mostly less than 40 ft. you shouldn't need it. You shouldn't find much of a difference between usability and fit and finish between the two cause they are made by the same people. There are many knowledgable people on this board, so you should be able to get some good advice.
