has anyone ever tried this? I think it works as well (perhaps better in some ways) than a flasher. Mil.grade screen is supposed to take the cold w/o problems...and it sure looks real time display to me,..I don't think my reflexes would work any faster than it shows! I made a self contained portable by using a little tupperware type plastic storage box,. drilled some holes for transducer cable,bat cable made a self leveling float for the trans,.drilled a hole in top for bracket mount to bolt with large washers to hold it in place. a Home depot 12v bat for those automatic hall lights to power it and its compact and ready to go.

I tried this yesterday and it worked fantastically well! Great idea!
