Want to try trolling leadcore this year what are your favorite reels for this and if most of my fishing is in 20 feet or less could a guy run just leadcore without mono backing?

For the last 10 years I have used Shimano 400 size spinning reels with just two colors of 18 lb lead core on Mississippi pool 4. There is still plenty of spool left for many more yards of 20 lb super line as a backing. This will get even small plugs down to 20 feet (depends on your trolling speed). With the spinning reel you have a much faster retrieve of your line when it gets weeds on the plug, plus it is much lighter than a large casting type reel with a bunch of lead core on it. I just wish they made spinning reels with louder clickers.

Daiwa Great Lakes 47lc

I can run mono backing, 200 foot of Fire 20#, and all ten colors plus plenty of room for leader material up to 100 foot.

They have a great drag and will handle plenty of banging around.

My persoanl choice.

Good luck,

Penn 209's reasonably priced and a quality reel. Shouldn't have to pay more than $50.00 a piece new!

I like the Penn 320's myself. The 310 would also work in your case. Check ebay. Each color of lead core is good for an average of 5', so you wouldnt need more then 4 or 5 colors in your case.

Penn 310 or 320 GTI's. Best leadcore reel I have used.

Mentioned this reel on the "Gen Dis." sight and I guess I should have done it here!
I have seen the Diawa L/C AD27lc on EAngler.com for $59.99. I haven't seen this model before. Any information would be appreciated.

HAPPY HOILDAYS TO ALL.
