Vern- I use My Coleman Propane lantern for both light and heat. Come in handy, I fish out of a Fish Trap, can be in shirtsleeves in a couple of minutes folded down on those o-below nights! Have been thinking of trying the LED rope lights, but have`nt got that far yet. Good luck- BobWC#253.

Im looking to get some LED lights (or something of the like) for a house that run off a 12 volt battery. What are these rope lights? Do they run off of a 12 volt battery? Is there anyplace I can take look at them?
Or does anyone else have any ideas about where to get lights to go in an ice house that will run off a 12 volt battery?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am in the process of rigging a Frabill speed shack XL with 12V rope lighting now (no big deal a few zip strips and Bada-Bing your done), my boat gets the treatment next. Great stuff!

I got mine from "Platinum Lighting Inc." of the net, very reasonably priced too. You can get it in several different colors and also can be rigged to a 12V dimmer. Very easy to work with, it can be cut to length anyplace along it's full length in 6" intervals, to fit you instillation needs.

They say 20' will draw 9 amps max, they also recommend to not run more then 20' off one power source. They can be split with a splitter T very easily.

Tell them I recommended them, ya never know you just may get a discount, or maybe not? :)

I think we will see a lot more of this product used in marine and other outdoors application in the future. Cool stuff!

What color seems to be the best?
I was planning on using plain old white in a permanent house, but would the blue or yellow be eaiser on the eyes? What are the other advantages color play here?
Thanks for the help once again

Not too many skeeters or gnats on the ice, so colour may be just what you think is best.

The yellow and amber appears to be a bit brighter, maybe that is just me?
