What is a good ultra light spinning reel and rod for the money. Under a $60 bucks

My newest fav UL spinning reel is the Abu Garcia Cardinal series 101.

I bought the reel because it fits both my ice applications as well as my open water light combinations.. so far this is one of the smoothest reels I've used and I have mainly top end rods and reels.

This is the first and only Abu that I've owned, but I sure like it.

The best ultra light reel I have ever used is the Tica Cetus, super smooth, great drag, and lightweight. I got one two years ago at Gander Mountain and will probably go get another this year. First one still works as good as new.

I bought two of the Quantum Xtralite reels from Bass Pro Shops. They hold 125 yards of 4lb test and have five ball-bearings for only 39.99. They only weigh 7.4 oz and are perfect for ice fishing. Get the XL1s5 model. These also double as my trout and crappie reels on my ultralight rods.

I'll have to confirm the previous post. TICA is a more popular saltwater brand but man those utralights are smooth and beat the he11 out of anything else that I have seen. A little spendy at 39.99 but way better than any other ultralight. They also have a new model out that is a 4 BB reel(other is 6 BB) that is 29.99, pretty sweet too. All are ball bearing and have infinite antireverse, smooth drags ect. Pretty nice and worth looking at.

I just got a few for ice fishing and have been pretty pleased.

I have tried lots of brands and shimano is by far the best.I use them now exclusively,and believe me I crank one alot.I prefer the Spirex 2000 rear drag they cost 60.00 or if you want one that will last a lifetime buy the Symetre it costs 90.00

Another vote for the Tica 500...........best lightweight for ice jigging.Have used mine for several years with great satisfaction.Its light weight balances light ice rods and its antireverse makes the big difference. The drag is good enough to land bigger walleyes.
