I got to pre fish with a pro at Winnegago this year and all we did was troll. He was using Trilene Sensation in the green color. I have since switched to it and I love it. I can run 12# and the diameter is the same as most lines 10# diameter. It actually is the same diameter as the guidelines used in the precision trolling book. It is abrasion resistant and sensitive. It offers greater strength and more control. Also on a last note before you spool these up and throw away your reciept look into the new Diawa SG17LC. I have SG27LC's and I love them but I just saw the new reels and they are awsome. They are a bit smaller and hold right around 300 yrds of 10# mono. They also have 2 ball bearings. Very nice! Look up the post in general discussion that reads Diawa line counters not at cabelas about these reels.

Rick- Personaly I use 10lb. Big Game in the solar. The brite color is easy to keep track of in all conditions and if I feel it is costing Me bites- I add a barrel swivel amd a 2' to 3' leader of XL. The Big Game stands up to the rigors of pulling cranks and spinners here on the Bay! Good luck on the Bay this coming season it should be great. Bob WC#253.

I used 30 lb. Fireline and Power Pro last year. I thought they performed equally well but I liked the Fireline just slightly better for tieing knots. I prefer Superlines for trolling and use long soft rods with a very light drag setting. This helps to ensure good hookups without tearing too large an entry hole for the hooks. I lose VERY few fish and can tell instantly whenever my lures are not running clean by using the Superlines. I use 30 lb. test because it's very close to 10 lb. XT in line diameter and allows me to dial in with the Precision Trolling book. You'll still be able to hit your depths in the Bay and run long lines to get away from the boat.

Like Chamookman, I use Berkley Big Game in the 10# solar green version. It's tough, and most importantly it's cheap. I simply have not had a problem with it yet - including the hog eyes and cats that Saginay Bay will provide. Keep in mind that your 27LC's will take around a gazillion feet of 10# - the inexpensive Big Game line won't kill the budget.

I loaded up four of them with Cabelas Rip Cord.
I think it was the 40lb. test (but maybe 50) that was
the same dia. as 10# Mono. that Precision Trolling uses for reference.

I did load up some filler mono on the reels first.
I have nothing but good things to say about it.
