I'm going to erie for the first time in mid april. I would like some advice on lure selection and productive colors. We're staying on kellys island and would like to know some areas to try. If weather permits, I'm not worried about travelling a distance by boat, so any advice is welcomed. Thanks for any help.

If your handle is an indication of your preferred method, I would start only one place..... Reef Runners and Ripsticks. We have also had pretty good luck in the past with the old style Hot-N-Tots.

April can also be a fair jig bite from the few times I've been there that early (we go in early May)..

Good luck!

I'm from wisconsin and I don't know the name of place we're staying at. I fish a lot on green bay and guide on winnebago. Every thing that I have researched on this subject, indicates reef runners, husky jerks, and all the same stuff I use on Green bay. (Thats good for me) I'm always open to suggestions. Thanks for you advice.

Are you going with anybody that stayed on Kelley's last year. They were staying at Pleasant Veiw on the south side of the island. We were out there about the same time last year and met up with a couple of guy's from Neenah. They had truck touble and we helped them out. Same group??
We will be out over Easter week this year, hopefully the weather will cooperate. Reef runners,Mann's Stretch series, if the weather is good. Poor weather then it's spinners and lead core or bottom bouncers.

I like using Hot n Tots and Whally divers with inline boards north on Kelleys. The 50-50 method has worked well for me in the spring there.

Yes, that is the same group. The plan right now is for myself, dad, and brother to arive a couple of days prior to the rest of the group. I havn't met the rest of them, however the two guys from neenah are co-workers. So, I'll see you there. I've got a red ranger 620, so come over and say hello.

I will be able to tell you the good colors for April about May 1st. Come prepaired to try everything in the box. The walleye seem to change what they like on a regular basis and you have to present enough different programs and color combinations to find out what the walleye want. At least we will all be in the same boat (so to speak). Personally we will start out on the reefs drifting jigs, spinners and bottom bouncers with worm harnesses. Then move north of the reefs from A can to Niagara reef area and troll using dipsys with spoons while running diver baits like reef runners, thunder sticks, rip sticks, hot n tots, etc. in the brighter colors off large and small boards, until the walleye tell us what they want.
Good luck, dean

Troller,
We'll be staying about a 1/4 mile away from Pleasant View on the south side of Kelley's also. Just pray for good weather and we should be just fine. Sounds like we'll be leaving Good friday in the A.M. so we can touch base with you then. I'll give you my E-mail, it's rkgslg@charter.net, you'll have a great time I'm sure. Send me your E-mail address and we'll keep in contact.
