The South Bend Tribune ran an article Friday that the State of Indiana will not recognize the 14.47 pound walleye caught Dec. 11th as the new state record. The fish was caught inside the Port of Indiana. For safety and security reasons recreational boats are not permitted in the harbor. Has this always been the policy for fishing inside the breakwaters?
So... what state DO they figure it came from?

the wildlife bulletin posted by the ind dnr states that all state records must be caught "legally" and technically you are only allowed to fish from one spot in the port...the public access point...no boats are allowed in...there is a lot of talk that they will be enforcing no fishing from boats this yr...they seem to say this every yr but since 9/11 they may be more serious about restrictions in the port...time will tell how serious they are on restricting fishing...steve heckler
