Looking to upgrade jig pitching rods. Any suggestions for rods priced $75-$100. Thanks in advance.

Hey Sandman,

Although I could be accused of being biased, since I help with marketing for this company, I truly say the best jigging, vertical fishing, casting rod I've used is the Wristsaver Rods. Now I know it's tough to teach old dogs new tricks. Myself being one of the toughest old dogs in that regard. But...these rods only make sense and after using one for an hour and going back to the "normal" rod, you understand that better. The blanks are high quality graphite blanks that are made by the same manufacturer that makes many of the rods for many of the "normal" companies with more familiar names printed on them. St. Croix blanks are also used as some of the blanks. The reels, which have to go with the rods based on design, are six ball bearing reels, also the same reels that are under more familiar namebrand labels. Anyway....take a look and feel.... www.wristsaverrods.com

lol I wonder if the Wristsaver design was what we had been using for the past 100 years, and someone walked up with a straight rod, (such as we actually have used), if we would describe them as wierd looking and not consider using them. lol Old dogs...new tricks? lol

Anyone in the Kansas City area this week can see'em at the sportshow.

I would recommend the Bass Pro Shops 6' HM85 Walleye Angler Signature Series Rod Model WX60MLJSH.
Its one of the best jigging rods you'll find for $100.

I'm a fan of the Berkley Series One.

Good choice. The St. Croix Premier series is also in this range (around $75USD if I recall).

If you have a Galyan's near you check out their line of rods. They made a wide variety of models and are priced right. They also have a 100% return policy should it break for any reason or you just don't like it. You could also find a good deal on E-Bay at the right times.

I've got one of every rod listed so far, except the wristsaver rods and IMHO you can get a better rod than any previously recommended for less money.

FENWICK HMX is the BEST jiggin' rod for the money anywhere!!!! (No I'm not sponsored)

However, remember you have to match it correctly with an equally weighted reel and use the proper line for whatever depths / conditions you'll be fishing.

Good luck
