Checked Cabela's, they will no longer stock Diawa's Model SG27LC or the other models. Are these reels being replaced? Is there a place I can purchase them?

Thanks

Carl

diawa has replaced the sealine reels with an upgraded version the new reel has 2 ball bearings as opposed to the old ones that had bushings. they also have a metal spool which should help to reduce backlash. both the new reel and the lower quality accu-depth are in cabela's 2003 tackle catalog with a new part number. also the price has been upgraded about 15 bucks.

Not sure where you two are getting your info from but I just looked in the 2002 catalog and the new 2003 catalog. The SG27LC will still be carried by cabelas. It does have 2 ball bearings instead of bushings but they will still stock it, along with the new SG17LC and the Accudepths. As far as price, the price in the 2002 catalog is the same as in the new 2003 catalog, which is 89.95 for reel only (SG27LC) combo price is 104.95 which is $15 dollars more.

I should add the new reels have an extra letter in the model number. Example SG27LCA which is essentially the same reel as the SG27LC. Like stated above the new reels have 2 BB and metal spool otherwise the same, including price.

Jonny, I talked with Cabela's. Apparently they will not carry the bushing types anymore. Makes sense now. By the way, I looked at the combo price. Anyone use the Cabela's depthmaster trolling rods? If so, what length do you use? This is my first with trolling for walleyes.

Thanks

I troll erie east end ,we use 10ft heavy action with dipsy set up and 8/5ft for down riggers .you;ll just have to exp and you;ll come up with what's good for your boat ,tuff to use 10ft rods on smaller boat so adapt to your needs .jim good fish'en

Islander, no problem it all makes sense now. I just bought 2 new SG17LCA's and I cant wait to use them. They are going to be great reels for the simple fact I wont need to put on a bunch of back fill because the 17's hold about 300 yrds of 10# mono.

How will the two ball bearings vs. the bushings impact performance?
