Just looking in... a friend told me about this site... i love to fish.. am not proud... will fish for anything, with any sort of gear... have fly gear, spin casting gear, bait gear, asked for down riggers for xmas, but must have been bad since i didnt get any... Guess they dont fit my canoe... Do have walleye in my area... but dont know much about how to fish for them... Any suggestions for fishing walleye in lake roosevelt behind grand coulee dam?

Welcome! Sorry I don't know anything about the fishing in your area. There will be others on the message board that may be able to help you on your home water. You can find a great deal of info on this site and www.winnebagowalleyes.com Check out the articles on this site and the Winnebago site. Tight Lines; BD

Welcome to Walleye Central. I also don't have the answer to your question but i'm sure someone that hangs around here does. We're a very versatile bunch. I'd be more helpful but I'm a New Yorker so I'm limited :-)

Is the Grand Coulee Dam in central Washington ? Is it part of the Columbia River system ? Think I fished for salmon somewhere near there .

welcome aboard ladyfish!

i would access the state fisheries site and you will most likely find info about the walleye population, characteristics about the fish relative to the lake and catch rates. going further, you could contact the local biologist directly and ask him or her about their survey work which should put you right on the fish both in area and depth relative to the time of year they do the surveys.

good luck!

ladyfish, the 'western washington walleye club' might be a helpful place for local info also. or 'walleyes unlimited of washington'.

no matter where i fish walleyes, anywhere in the country, at any latitude, a crawler harness spinner rig catches walleyes. consistent
with any impoundments i have fished, it seems where the "old river channel' swings in tight to the lakeshore is key walleye ground. sometimes you will have a huge cut bank there or rock slide visible from a long ways off.
keep us posted on your walleye ventures, ladyfish!

#49: *S*... i have bathymetric maps of the lake... and fish&wildlife info on where, how.... but, information from the locals seems to always be the best .... have been thinking about contacting some local guides, etc.... at least for a first outting...

Gil: awwwwhhhh.... after having seen our BIG river, im sure you might be envious... however, the preservation of that river is taking a big toll on our state otherwise... trying to satisfy fish flows, agricultural needs as well as municipal needs is a big challenge... but then again, we had that talk on our walk down the river walkway and back again didnt we ? *S*S*

There are plenty of people on this site out in the Washington / Oregon region. Try posting a message with a more descriptive heading (Walleyes in Washington or something). That will bring them all running.

Look for info from Donnie, Dan(or), and WAeyes....they all know the lakes. Also, give Gordon Steinmetz a call at Big Wally's in Coulee City. He and Don Hall can give you the walleye info on all the area lakes.

Personally, I usually don't get much further than Banks when i head to the eastern side but i hope to be fishing Rufus Woods at the end of the month.

Good luck
