I want to add a new finder to my small lake boat. Will do most of my fishing in less then 75 feet of water. To me these finders look about the same except for the price. Which is the better finder for my needs and why? About $100 difference at Cabelas.
Thanks

With the X-87 you have the option of getting a dual frequency transducer wich I don't believe is offered with the 320.

I just purchased a portable X-87. I used it on the ice last weekend. I love it. It has the built in LCD Flasher mode, which the Eagle does not. The flasher comes in handy when you anchor or ice fishing.

I stand corrected. I was just looking in a Bass Pro Offshore catalog I got today and they list a Eagle SeaFinder 320DF with the dual frequency. It was listed for $239 - a heckof a deal.

The Eagle 320DF is listed in our Saltwater catalog only. For some reason, we didn't put it in the Master. Maybe this will explain it:

I asked one of our experts in the Marine section if the dual frequency transducer would be that much better for deep water (it's a $40 price difference), and he said yes--from about 1500 feet on down. Shallower than that, it's probably not much of an issue.

Personally, I've never run a dual-frequency transducer. You folks who have, do you really see much of a difference in the depths we typically fish? If so, is it enough of an improvement to justify the added expense?

Just curious to know how it works in the REAL world, rather than on paper. :) Thanks,

I have owned 2 eagle high end fish finders and would not hesitate to buy another one. For your shallow application the 320 eagle would be fine. For $199 you can't beat it. I will have one very soon to replace the Ray Marine 365 that was on the boat I purchased last summer. IMHO Ray Marine fish finders are way overpriced.

What about if I am at anchor. Will the eagle continue to work like the lowrance?
